JULY, 2021 FFSC celebrated its 6th Foundation Day on 10th July 2021 through an online event to recognize what's been achieved, explore what lies ahead and launch new initiatives to empower the council for future opportunities. Over the past six years, FFSC has created a First of its kind skilling ecosystem for the Furniture and Allied Industry with the support of more than 70+ stakeholders, including industry partners, academia, associations, and engagement partners. Twenty-two job roles aligned to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) created a benchmark of the Industry's quality workforce and drove the skilling initiatives. FFSC training programs have impacted more www.ffsc.in than 2 lakh candidates across pan-India. A pool of 180+ certified trainers and assessors along with 50+ training centers across the country and a pool of #SkillAmbassadors has helped FFSC achieve this milestone. The focus on demand-driven skills training and apprenticeship are the critical aspects of FFSC's roadmap ahead. FFSC celebrated its 6th Foundation Day on 10th July

2021 through an online event to recognize what's been

achieved, explore what lies ahead and launch new

initiatives to empower the council for future

opportunities.

Over the past six years, FFSC has created a First of its kind

skilling ecosystem for the Furniture and Allied Industry

Mr. Anil Goel, Chairman of FFSC and Managing Director of Hettich India

Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the importance of skill, re-skill, and upskill

regarding the Industry's changing landscape and the emerging trends in

the sector.

Mr. Goel mentioned that the global demand for home improvement

business is increasing to the point that people are now facing a shortage

of raw materials. He emphasized that Government is taking a keen

interest in furniture manufacturing with an export target of 2-3 billion

dollars and building furniture hubs. Skilling centers will be created within

these hubs and FFSC will gear up to meet the demand for creating such

centers and support the hubs.

He further stated that keeping the Covid-19 situation in mind, the Council

shall find new ways of training, which combine a hybrid of digital and

hands-on training for the candidates. Training should be provided near

the requirement areas, be it hubs or initiatives of the state governments,

focusing on short-term training that can later be upgraded through

re-skilling modules.

With the world looking at India for its manufacturing solutions, the

Ministry of Commerce recognizing our Industry as a Champion sector for

manufacturing, a National Education Policy giving due importance to the

Vocational Education, National Council for Vocational Education and

Training (NCVET) synergizing and realigning the skill ecosystem, and the

Ministry of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship brought

under single point leadership of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji, and the

stage is set right for making a Paradigm shift in India's skilling landscape.

Mr. Mehta made an appeal to the Industry and Skilling Partners is to make

the most of this opportunity to strengthen the Training Infrastructure

and ensure quality skilled capital by collaborating and contributing via

the FFSC Regional Skill Chapters, FFSC Skill Pavilion, and Industry Led Skill

Academies.

Dedicating the year to Future and Youth Skills, FFSCis celebrating the

Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav-India@75. We invite you all to participate in

the FFSC Furniture Skills Global Conclave, through which we aim at

generating 10,000+ Training, Apprenticeship, and Job (TAJ)

Highlights of the Goal-based key initiatives

which were launched is given below.

FFSC Skill Pavilion will have the dual identity of FFSC's headquarters and India's model Skills Training Academy for our

sector. The academy will support the development of Training Delivery Programs & content for various Job Roles. It will

facilitate conducting of Training of Trainer/Training of Assessor (TOT/TOA) Programs. Academy will train World Skills

Candidates (Boot Camps, Experts & Jury Training, Final Training).

Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) taken for Standards Team will act as Trainers, Assessors & Workshop Managers. It will

enable FFSC to conduct customized Training programs for Industry Partners on higher-level job roles. It will serve as an

Experiential Skills Academy model for developing Training Centres across India & facilitating their operations.

Regional Skill Chapters will be formed to understand the Industry's

Skill Gap at the regional level and provide Skilling solutions locally.

FRSC will be built on a Hub & Spoke approach. The more prominent

District will act as the Hub and the smaller ones as Spokes. FRSC will

comprise the OEMs, Raw Material Suppliers, Machine & Hand Tool

suppliers, Interior Designer, Institution, Academia, Social Help Groups

/ NGOs, etc. FRSC will work closely with the District Skill Committees

(DSCs) & State Skill Development Mission (SSDMs) to achieve the Skill

India Mission. The shortlisted locations for FFSC Regional Skill Chapters

are Udaipur, Chandigarh, Delhi/NCR, Kolkata, Ahmedabad,

Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

FFSC Furniture Skills Global Conclave will have the central theme of Future and Youth Skills, celebrating. India@75 over

the next year.

FFSC Furniture Skills Global Conclave will kick start in August 2021 with a Launch Event, followed by various events,

culminating in the Finale August 2022.

Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, COO of NSDC as the Special invitee, congratulated

FFSC on the Foundation Day celebration linked with the Azadi ka

Mahotsav theme and launched the new brand image and logo. Mr. Tiwari

focused on the government's interest to make the Indian furniture

Industry is more export-oriented by creating hubs and dedicated

training facilities.

Mr. Tiwari revisited the vocational training is given in schools and how it

used to generate interest among the students, be it minimal. He

mentioned that with the new education policy, the focus would be on

integrating the vocational and the conventional educational system so

that the aspirants can have options for more skill-based career options.

Mr. Tiwari emphasized the importance of bringing aspirational value to

the sectors by developing innovative courses taking the designing aspect

as an example. He mentioned that FFSC would fully support NSDC for the

new initiatives, tap the emerging trends in the sector, and incorporate

them through skill development initiatives. Further, he mentioned that

NSDC would bring together multiple SSCs for such new initiatives since

the theme is cutting across the sectors.

Finally, Mr. Tiwari highlighted the vital role the industry has to play to

show direction to the skilling ecosystem and guide FFSC towards its goals.

He hoped that all the stakeholders could work together to meet the

youth's expectations and meet the purpose of making India the skill

capital of the world.

Co-Chairman's Closing remarks

Mr. Narsi Kularia, Co-Chairman of FFSC and Managing Director of Narsi

Interior Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd., emphasized on the importance of

industry players from all the segments to come together and be a

part of the skilling initiatives. Mr. Kularia mentioned that the sector

should get its due recognition, which will be possible by taking forward

the 'Skill India' vision.

Mr. Kularia mentioned that there is a tremendous improvement in the

Furniture & Fittings Industry in India. FFSC has ensured that Carpenters

are now Skilled with due certification. Young carpenters are trained

under NAPS, making them capable. He explained that FFSC has started

the process of Demand aggregation and accordingly has initiated

training programs to fulfill the job opportunities in the industry. All such

activities are making the sector more organized.

Mr. Kularia thanked the industry partners from all the sub-sectors who

have supported the council in its various initiatives. He appreciated the

cooperation of the Industry experts who have come forward and shared

their expertise to develop training programs. He expressed his gratitude

towards the previous governing council members and chairman who

have made an effort to set up the council.

Mr. Kularia hoped for continued support from all the stakeholders to

achieve the Mission 2025 set by FFSC to train 5 lakh candidates.
