S&H INDUCTION PROGRAMME FOR FIRST YEARS

The Induction Programme for the first year students was organized today at Sri

Krishna Hall. Dr.J.Janet, Principal, SKCET welcomed the gathering and highlighted

our institutional accolades. Chairperson Madam presided over the programme.

Dr.K.Sundararaman, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Krishna Institutions delivered the

presidential address. To mark the beginning of the Academic year and Induction

Programme, Dr.C.Sylendra Babu, IPS, Director General of Police – Railways,

Tamil Nadu was invited as the distinguished guest of the day. Finally, the programme

ended up with the vote of thanks by Dr.V.Ragavi, Head of Science and Humanities

Department.

Motivational talks on 5 C‟s

The campus of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology witnessed a large group

of enthusiastic youngsters gathered together to hear the speech of Dr C. Sylendra Babu IPS, the

most renowned IPS officer from Tamil Nadu. He mainly emphasized on the 5C‟s that is most

important for the career of students.

Compassion: “Have compassion towards your teachers, your friends, and all the other students who

are not so fortunate to study in a reputed college like this. And have the compassion to all those people

who never had a chance of getting quality education and to those people who never knew what real joy

of learning is”, he encouraged.

Curiosity: What made the world as it is today from the world which was 1000 years ago?”, “What was

the factor that made scientists invent all the great inventions we have in the present world?”, “What was

that something which we all had in our childhood, but eventually lose as we grow up?”

Communication: “No matter how much you know about something, if you cannot communicate it well

enough, it is still useless”

Critical Thinking: “Be a critic in terms of thinking”

Cooperation: “What makes the country like Japan and China more successful than our country?” It is

because of the overall cooperation of the citizens of the entire country.He encouraged the students to

imbibe the habit of reading the news paper daily.

MECH INDUSTRY VISIT - JS AUTOS

Second year A sec students of Mechanical Engineering visited "JS AUTO CAST

FOUNDRY INDIA PVT LTD, Kuppapalayam, Coimbatore". Dr. R. Soundararajan,

Associate Professor, Mechanical and Mr.J. Baskaran, Assistant Professor,Mechanical

accompanied the students.

Learning Outcomes: Manufacturing operations of metal casting and machining of

wind mill parts, hydraulic components, automotive components, agricultural segment

products, valves and pumps which are supplied to various Multinational Companies

like Caterpillar,Veatas, Gamesa, Iruna, JCB, Bharath Benz.





CSBS VIDEO PRESENTATION-INNOVATIVE DESIGN

The Activity Day in CSBS was a fruitful, colorful and fun filled day by the video

presentations of the students of II-CSE C(TCS).With great interest, the students

presented their video clips on the chosen theme. Among the list of 20 themes

suggested by Dr.S.Balakrishnan, Head/CSBSand Mrs.G.IgnishaRajathi, Tutor,

interesting topics pertaining to Intelligent Systems, Digital Learning, Nano Technology,

Global warming and Campus Life were presented by the students in their Video clips.

EEE SEMINAR PRESENTATION

As a part of seminar day activities, II and III year EEE students presented their

innovative ideas in the field of IoT, Industrial Automation, Electric Vehicles,

Raspberry Pi controller , Solar Tracking System, Electronic Skin, OLED, Smart

watch, Quantum Dots, Green technologies and Innovations.





MECH INDUSTRY VISIT- ANUGRAHA

II Year B Section Mechanical Engineering Students visited Anugraha Valve

Castings Private Limited - Unit V as a part of Industry Based Course on

Manufacturing Technology – I. Mr. A. Sathish Kumar, Assistant Professor,

Mechanical, and Mr. S. Vignesh, Assistant Professor, Mechanical accompanied the

students for Industrial visit.

Learning Outcomes: Students visited the sand preparation unit and learnt various

techniques regarding the preparation of sand for moulding process. They also had a

practical exposure of usage of various patterns such as split pattern, cope and drag

pattern, match plate pattern and cores for preparing the mould cavity. The students

were also given awareness about safety measures to be taken while melting the metal

in furnaces.





CSE TECH FORUM

As a part of Saturday Activity, Technical Forum on "Recent Trends" event was

conducted for the CSE Pre-Final Year students. The students discussed various technical

ideas and presented their seminar on recent domains such as „Recent Trends in

Networking and Packet Transfer, Memory Technologies, Applications of Theory of

Computation, Image segmentation for Rover Navigation and Solar Potential

Direction‟.





IT APTITUDE TRAINING

As a part of Saturday activity III year students from IT department have attended

Aptitude Training. Dr.K.N.Sivabalan, Professor, Department of Information Technology,

trained the students in terms of exploring their ability to crack the aptitude test.





MCT TECHNICAL AND NON TECHNICAL PRESENTATION

II Year MCT students made individual presentations on technical and non-technical topics.





MECH INDUSTRY VISIT - ELTEX

II Year Mechanical Engineering - C Section Students visited ELTEX Super castings as a

part of their Industry Based Course Manufacturing Technology - I.

Mr. M. Vigneshkumar, Assistant Professor,Mechanical, and Mr. S. Pranesh, Assistant

Professor,Mechanical accompanied the students for Industrial visit. Safety manager of the

company explained about the various departments to be visited.

Learning Outcomes: Students visited the core manufacturing unit and learnt various core

sand preparation methods and core shooting process. Then they visited moulding

section where moulding is prepared using match plate pattern. Students also visited

research lab of the company and they learnt how the chemical composition of the cast iron

in the furnace is monitored and controlled. They also observed various mechanical tests

carried out to access the strength of the castings.





EEE DEMONSTRATION ON TRANSDUCERS

In order to extend „learning outside the classroom‟ for „Measurements and

Instrumentation‟ subject, the II EEE Band C sec students were taken for a visit to

Sensors Lab of MCT department to have a deeper understanding of „transducers and

sensors‟. The students were introduced to input sensors, output actuators, signal

conditioning circuits, and display devices related to pressure, temperature, flow, density

measurements through a real time demonstration. The activity was coordinated by

Dr.S.Sheeba Rani, Associate Professor, EEE.





EEE HOD INTERACTION WITH FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

Dr.K.Lakshmi, Head of the Department, EEE addressed the Final year students and

deliberated on the following points:

To attend the Accenture based training without absenteeism.

To develop communication skill and courage to face the interview.

To cooperate with the faculty members and tutors.

To equip themselves to compete with state level students.





MCT EXTENDED HOUR COACHING

IT EXTENDED HOUR COACHING

Coaching class on “Thermal and Fluid Engineering” was conducted by

Mr. S. Madhan Kumar for the II MCT A & B students.

As a part of motivating the students to get good marks in CIA 2, special coaching classes

for the subject “Digital Principles and System Design” and “Computer Architecture”

were conducted for the II year students of IT.





MECH INTERNSHIP EXPERIENTIAL SHARING

Third year students from Department of Mechanical Engineering presented their

experience in various companies like COINDIA Modern tool room, TITAN company

during their tenure as Intern. Students eagerly listened to the presentation and gained

industry exposure on manufacturing processes of different companies.

The Department of Science and Humanities conducted „Creative Arts‟ as a part of

Induction Programme for the first year students. These art forms would give them the

space to broaden their creative expression and help in developing an aesthetic sense.

EEE STUDENT MOOC COMPLETION

The entire pupil crew of 59 students from II-EEE A class mentored by their faculty

Mrs.G.Ignisha Rajathi ,CSBS have successfully completed the course, “C++ Tutorial”

certified by SOLOLEARN.

It contains an extensive assessment of 324 quiz questionnaires in varied topics

such as Basic Concepts (46 Questions), Conditionals and Loops (40 Questions),

Datatypes-Arrays-Pointers (45 Questions), Functions (39 Questions), Classes and

Objects (28 Questions), Advanced Classes (47 Questions), Inheritance &

Polymorphism (29 Questions), Templates-Exceptions-Files (37 Questions) and

finally a Challenge phase (13 Questions).

This course is an extended learning activity for “Programming in C++ and Java”,

initiated and accomplished by Mrs.G.Ignisha Rajathi / CSBS with the support of

Dr. K. Lakshmi, Head of the Department and Mr. Jeylani, Tutor. It was

successfully completed as the result of a continuous monitoring process and team

work of individual students.
