Important Information to Know in Advance
Skaters at the Free Skate Level 1 and up are required to have their own pair of figure skates. Rentals are not suitable for the skills being taught. Please do not purchase low quality skates. We recommend visiting the rink Pro Shop and purchasing a Riedell brand skate. Rentals may be used for a minimal fee until the ordered skates have arrived. To show our appreciation, show the Pro Shop your Young Champions on Ice Registration receipt and receive a 10 % discount on one of the following items: skates, skating jacket, pants, or dress!
All skaters must be dressed appropriately in a skating dress wearing beige tights or black pants with jacket or similar stretch snug fitting exercise wear. Please, no bulky loose fitting attire. Gloves are recommended.
Hair is to be neatly pulled back in a ponytail or up in a bun. Hair strands should be clipped back.
For off-ice class, skaters should bring a water bottle and wear form fitting sneakers.
The U.S. Basic Skills Annual Membership is from July 1 through June 30. Skaters must have a current U.S. Basic Skills or USFS annual membership. All skaters at the Basic Skills levels will need to re-new before July 1. Membership is $12. Contact the front office if you are not a member, do not know your number or need to re-new.

What Makes
“Young Champions on Ice” A Unique Program?
The “Young Champions on Ice” Program provides additional classes for the enthusiastic Learn to Skate (LTS) Basic Skills skater. The focus is on mastering their skills with better quality, speed and balance. These introductory classes are offered for the LTS skater to try other disciplines such as free skating (jumps and spins), synchronized skating, ice dancing and moves in the field.
The YCOI program acts as a prerequisite that prepares the skater and parent for the Competitive Figure Skating Program offered at the Ice Centre at the Promenade. Not all skaters choose the competitive direction, therefore, the skater can continue to enjoy the Young Champions on Ice group class program at an affordable cost.
Skaters will learn ice etiquette, safety rules and good practice habits from the YCOI classes prior to participating on any beginner figure skating practice sessions (FSO/B). The class environment encourages friendships, sportsmanship, team spirit and a fun learning experience!
Holiday Ice Show Group Class Rehearsal Be a part of the Holiday Fun this season!
Skaters will learn a group routine to holiday
music in eight 30 minute rehearsal sessions.
