Dressing Arched ShadesEven the best measurements can’t make a shade arch fit snug intoa wavy window opening. But there is a trick that you can perform

that will help that shade meetits match. The solution is justordinary toilet paper or papertoweling.

On the front of the arch, remove the center hole cover.

You’ll see the cover sup-ports that are attached tothe headrail.

The size of the center hole will determine the amount of paper youuse. The paper can be twisted and shaped to accommodate the areathat needs adjustment. If the top of the arch needs to fit snugger to

the top of the windowopening, then you wouldapply more paper to thetop part of the center holeabove the cover supports. If the arch is not touchingone side or the other ofthe window opening, youwould then apply morepaper to that side of the

center hole. The paper actually pushes the material outward. It willtake a little patience and some trial and error for you to succeed ingetting the desired effect. Once there, replace the center hole coverand you’re done.

How do you do that?3

Tips for Fool-Proof Shade SalesEver gone into a customers home, sold a large order of a won-derful shade products and ordered the color that they chose, only to be called after the installation to be told that it wasn’tthe color they ordered? This scenerio can be avoided if you present the shade in all ofits various light settings. Here are some surefire ways to avoidproblems.

When presenting shades you must hold the shade sample colorstretched out and up to the window that it will be going into. This helps the customer see the many facets of color of the fab-ric in the sunlight. Again hold the sample stretched out andaway from the window towards a darker area of the room. Thiswill help represent the fabric color on a cloudy day and/orevening light. Show the customer the difference in the fabriccolor when the shade is drawn open or drawn closed. The fab-ric will appear darker when bunched together, so the sampleshown in the sample book will look darker.

All shade fabrics are polyester content and while dye lot vari-ances are slight, explain to your customer that shades should beordered for the same room at the same time, thus eliminatingdye lot differences.

Many pleated and cellular shade fabrics that are left pulleddown will, after time, sag because of the effect of gravity.Skandia now has a double-cell shade fabric that will not sagand will keep its crisp cells no matter what. Sensations double-cell fabric is available in twenty fabulous light-filtering colors.

Different room decors require different shade applications. Tallwindows benefit from the Simple Ascent option of our shadeproduct lines. Simple Ascent uses a clutch mechanism thatkeeps the pull cord the same length when drawing up or down.

This feature prevents pooling of the cord on the floor when theshade is drawn up and eliminates a major cause of cord break-age. This is a great benefit to your customer and eliminatescostly repairs.
