Siyathemba Clinic Christmas Party What an afternoon when 45 clinic children accompanied by siblings, friends and parents arrived for the Siyathemba Clinic Christmas Party on 29 November 2012 with great anticipation. After a year of hard work in school and therapy, nothing less than an exciting eventful afternoon was expected. And so it was: quite an eventful day. Children arrived and immediately dived into the fun by playing soccer with students and staff and exploring the jumping castle. Parents waited quietly under the trees, just too thankful for a break whilst others entertain their children. Students (final year occupational therapy), staff from the Occupational Therapy Department and other volunteers ran about to be the ones to entertain the children and to make sure there’s enough to eat and drink as the crowd grew. Finally, when all has arrived, children and parents ate “as much as they could” and received icicles, cool drink and cake. Thereafter the students and staff performed the Christmas story. Children were taught about the birth of Christ, His death and resurrection and every one had an opportunity to receive Christ into their lives. We ended it off with singing. After more playing and running around, each clinic child received a gift and every extra child received a surprise packet with eats to take home. On reflection: “What a day to learn to love even more, to appreciate others even more and to soak in the grace that I received today.” To everyone who made this day possible, I want to thank you! Your time, your money, your effort and being there does not go unnoticed! Without you, it would not have been the same! - Lené Wessels -

Siyathemba Clinic Christmas Party

What an afternoon when 45 clinic children accompanied by

siblings, friends and parents arrived for the Siyathemba Clinic

Christmas Party on 29 November 2012 with great anticipation.

After a year of hard work in school and therapy, nothing less than

an exciting eventful afternoon was expected. And so it was: quite

an eventful day.

Children arrived and immediately dived into the fun

by playing soccer with students and staff and

exploring the jumping castle. Parents waited quietly

under the trees, just too thankful for a break whilst

others entertain their children. Students (final year

occupational therapy), staff from the Occupational

Therapy Department and other volunteers ran about

to be the ones to entertain the children and to make

sure there’s enough to eat and drink as the crowd

grew.

Finally, when all has arrived, children and parents ate “as much as they could”

and received icicles, cool drink and cake. Thereafter the students and staff

performed the Christmas story. Children were taught about the birth of Christ,

His death and resurrection and every one had an opportunity to receive Christ

into their lives. We ended it off with singing.

After more playing and running around, each clinic child received a gift and

every extra child received a surprise packet with eats to take home.

On reflection: “What a day to

learn to love even more, to

appreciate others even more and

to soak in the grace that I

received today.”

To everyone who made this day possible, I want to thank

you! Your time, your money, your effort and being there

does not go unnoticed! Without you, it would not have been

the same!
