Into the woods
It was so exciting to accompany so may Year 12 students to the UCAS Conference in Surrey last week. We extend our sincere thanks to Ms Fitzgerald for arranging this fantastic trip which was inspirational and motivational. Also to those who supported the trip, Father Mike, Mr McCulloch and Dr Foreman.
The Sixth Form educational journey is so short lived, it’s hard to believe that only a few months ago you were selecting your A-level and BTEC courses and now you are choosing Degree programmes and Universities.
Making the right choices at this level are very important so doing your research is essential. There is a plethora of opportunities which are not always easy to navigate. Thankfully, you have a team of experts at your fingertips. Discuss the options with your tutors and seek guidance from the Sixth Form Leadership team. We have years of experience supporting students through UCAS and we are ready to help.
The Year 13 students are now completing this process, confirming their firm and insurance offers. I am sure that they will be happy to share their knowledge and experience with those new to the system.
Have a great week.

Reflection
Uber founder Travis Kalanick has come up
against heavy criticism for
the way he runs his company.
Recently he apologised in the press: “I must
fundamentally change as a leader and grow up…I admit I need leadership
help and I intend to get it”.
All those aspiring to
leadership in the College or later in life take note:
don’t be proud, admit you need help and take it wherever you can. St.
James writes: “humble yourself before the Lord
and he will lift you up” (James 4:10)

Highly Commended
Every week we will be recognising students who have demonstrated
independence, resilience, academic excellence, outstanding attendance or
those who have served as a true ambassador for the Sixth Form in some
way.
If you would like to nominate a student to be highly commended please
contact Mrs. Conway-Hughes or Miss Tanya Morgan.
Lily Ashton wows us all again with her amazing artistic
talent. Lily’s artwork has been given worldwide coverage by
stationary giant Staedtlers. In their latest global campaign, they
picked Lily’s artwork along with only two others to feature on
new packaging for one of their products. Well done!!!!
Congratulations to Elise Treadwell, Imogen Briscoe and Zena
Bailey for securing residential summer school places at Oxford
University—Well done, ladies!

Into the Woods After months of hard work and rehearsals, the Drama Department’s production of ‘Into the Woods 'commenced on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th March. The evenings were a resounding success and the cast and crew, which included many of our Sixth Form students, did an outstanding job . This is what the Drama and Music Department had to say:
“We found ourselves in absolute awe watching the KS4 and KS5 students rehearsing and creating the performance of ‘Into the Woods’. Determined, focused and full of understanding of the score and narrative, our students successfully performed Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Into the Woods’ on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th March in the Sixth Form Hall. Wonderful characterisation, emotive singing and comic storytelling our students bought to life this parody of several fairy tales inter-twined to create a fun and fast paced performance.
We could not be more proud of their work ethic, commitment to portraying believable characters and ability to cope with the difficulty of the score. It has been an absolute pleasure working with these students. If you missed the performance, photographs of the performance can be found on our Facebook page and the College Website Photo Gallery.”
