After the intro- duction feel free to enjoy an evening out amongst Stockholm’s varied nightlife. Night 1 at Långholmen hostel. Tour departs after breakfast from Långholmen at 10.00 am to visit Slottskällan Brewery in Uppsala for a tour & tast- ing*, before stopping for lunch* at an old mill, Ulva kvarn. Continue journey through Färnebofjärden national park to Högbo Bruk adventure camp. Afternoon spent either on the many activities available, including high wire, jeep safari*, etc. or a visit to Sweden’s first whisky distillery, Mackmyra whisky in Valbo. Maybe take a lakeside sauna & hot tub* before retiring to the watermill restaurant & bar. Night 2 in log cabins at Högbo Bruk. ARRIVAL After breakfast chill out or partake in more activities & action with Äventyrarna at Högbo until we depart at 13.00 for our next stop at Orbaden beach resort via Vildmarksgalleriet (wilderness gallery) in Ockelbo. Here at Orbaden you have the possibility to relax on the sandy beaches or to participate in the rowing of a traditional Viking boat* across the Ljusnan river. Also available is a floating sauna* on the river & dinner in the wooden Viking house* Night 3 in Orfa log cabins at Orbaden. Note: On some tours we drop off Wildlife tour guests at Vargas lodge for 4 night stay, tracking bears, elks, beaver, deer, lynx & miscellaneous birdlife etc. Breakfast, then for those who want to see Swedish wildlife without the hassle of traipsing through forests we stop at Järvsö zoo & adventure trail* or alternatively you can stroll around the quaint village of Stenegård. Continue north- wards towards the middle of Sweden into the Jämtland region to Björknäsgården lakeside hotel with its abundance of watersports* available, i.e. waterskiing, wakeboarding, para sailing, tubeing, fishing or simply take a tour on the antique river boat “Alma”. For the evening, just a few min- utes away by boat there is an old wooden Swedish pub on the water’s edge. Night 4 in Björknäsgården Hotel. Continuing our journey after breakfast with a change of direction, heading west towards the Swedish mountains & the ski resorts of Vemdalen, where we meet up with our guides for the day for a mountain hike. A wilderness lunch is served at the bear camp before we begin tracking the brown bear in its natural environment. During the after- noon we cross over the mountain range before we retire back to camp for a BBQ dinner & discuss the day’s sightings. Night 5 in Vemdalen Gästis (guesthouse). Breakfast in Vemdalen before heading south & the pictur- esque Voxnan river valley where we meet up with our river guide for lunch. Afterwards we board our 12 man canoes and head off down through the scenic forest-lined river with a high chance of spot- ting wildlife on the riverbanks. That night we set up camp on the river´s edge and enjoy a fireside dinner. Night 6 at campsite in tents. Campsite style breakfast then possibly back to Vargas Wilderness Lodge to pick up the wildlife guests before head- ing back towards Stockholm. On the way back we stop off at Sigtuna, Sweden’s oldest town on the edge of lake Mälaren, for a lunch* break, before continuing back to Långholmen hostel, arriving back at around 15.00. This is the end of tour, but feel free to stay another night or the weekend in Stockholm. Welcome back & hope to see you again! At Vargas you will stay at the remote home of Håkan Sundberg, a respected wildlife photographer. He has set up his wilderness lodge on the side of a large lake in the forest with the sole purpose of studying Swedish wildlife at large. During your 3 day stay you will be invited to track animals in their native environment such as the brown bear, elk, beaver & many varie- ties of birdlife including the golden eagle. Other activities available are a lakeside sauna, canoeing & fishing. Tour dates; Friday 6/7 – Thursday 10/7 Friday 1/8 – Thursday 7/8 Friday 29/8 – Thursday 4/9 Prices available on application.
