Near-Field Comminications Finger Nail Workshop

Time: 5:30 pm for a 6:00 to 8:00 pm workshop

Date: Thursday the 6th of September 2018 at RMIT University in the City

Venue: RMIT University (venue and any other details in the lead up to the workshop)

The AP-MTT Chapter and the Women-in-Engineering Affinity Group are organising a rather unique maker-workshop on near-field communications and fashion finger-nails. Near-field devices are finding many uses today and an interesting one is the use of these in fashion. We are looking for 12 people to come along and learn what near-field communications is about.

This workshop will allow you to program an Arduino-based near-field reader and to create your very own near-field finger-nail that lights up and talks to any compatible reader and hear what near-field communications is used for.

The workshop will require one laptop per two or three person team so if you have one please do bring it along. Also if you have an Android phone than again that would be a useful addition to testing out the nails and tags.

The course is free and you are welcome to send a younger person along, or form a family team or interested group.

To register your interest please email Fatemeh Jalali ([email protected]), Nalika Dona ([email protected]) and Enn Vinnal ([email protected]) and please put "Near-field workshop" in the subject line.
