We provide a large selection of Judaica items, including Jewelry and items for children, as well as other non-Judaic items for gift giving. Personalized B’nai Mitzvah and Wedding gifts are also available. We carry a large inven-tory of Men and Women’s Tallism and Tefillin. We make every effort to purchase Judaica that comes either from Israel or is made in America. Don’t see what you want? We can order it for you! See somethingonline? This Gift Guide will help you make your home or event ready to observe all of the Jewish Life Cycle events or holidays with the simple checklist included on each page. We have also included the basic blessings that correspond to these special occasions.

We are open during Religious School hours on Wednesdays from 4-6pm and on Sundays from 9am till noon. There is also the possibility that some of the co-chairs will be helping in the kitchen on Friday mornings and can help you with your needs. MEZUZAH PRAYER

MEZUZAHWhy a Mezuzah?

In addition to its role as a declaration and reminder of our faith, the mezu-zah is also a symbol of G-d’s watchful care. The name of G-d is an acronym for the Hebrew words which mean “Guardian of the doorways of Israel.” Placing a mezuzah on the doors of a home or office protects the inhabi-tants—whether they are inside or out.The mezuzah should then be affixed to the upper third of the door-post on the right side as one enters the house or room. If the doorpost is wide enough to permit, the mezuzah should be tilted with the upper part slanting inward toward the house or room.

The seder is designed to help us re-member the story of the Exodus and, more importantly, our place in it. Tzedakah is fundamental to Judaism; it is at the very heart of who we are as Jews. Tzedakah is not a choice. It is one of the 613 mitzvot, or obligations, we live by. Many of our sages considered it the mostimportant commandment.The root of the Hebrew word is tzedek—justice, or righteousness. In the Bible, tzedakah means “righteous behavior.” We do not give to chari-ty out of kindness alone. We perform acts of tzedakah as we seek to create a just world.The commandment of tzedakah is so important that the recipient of our charity is considered to be granting us a favor by allowing us to fulfill our obligation. The poor must also give what they can, so that they, too, are able to perform mitzvot.

The sheva berakhot are the real heart of the Jewish wedding ceremony; the themes of joy and celebration and the ongoingpower of love are expressed. The blessings, from one to seven, begin with the kiddush over wine and increase in intensity in theirimagery and metaphors.
