Jamie: Deelishis is amazing. What did youdo with the money you won on "Charm .School"?Saaphyri: I started my own business. I start-ed up a company for lip balm called lipChap. Basically it was doing good.
Jamie: Did people order it online?Saaphyri: Yes. Then I also had a program, which was called IDP (IndependentDistributor Program) where there was peo-ple or college students that just wanted tomake money like you do with Avon.
Jamie: So what are you going to do now?Saaphyri: Well, I have a lot of things in theworks right now.
Jamie: Are you back in touch with VH1?Saaphyri: I'm not going to say exactlywho, but I'm definitely in touch with someTV folks. You will see me back on TV.There's some things we're working out witha major network and I'm going to be backout there.
Jamie: Did VH 1 stay in touch with you atall?Saaphyri: Yes, they did. They paid for mylawyers.
Jamie: They did?Saaphyri: Yeah. My televisions, my radios,my monies that I needed to pay my rent, you know; before I didn't know I wasn'tcoming back.
Jamie: They paid for all of that?Saaphyri: They paid for everything, and ltreally made me feel good. I love them todeath. You know that TV, that radio-whenyou're locked up, that becomes your bestfriend .'
Jamie: Oh, they paid for a TV and a radiowhile you were in prison?Saaphyri: Mm-hmm. They bought it for meand sent. it to me.
Jamie: So you can have a TV and radio inprison? I didn't know that.Saaphyri: I know, I know-because you stillthought we "go on the lam." (laughter)
'Jamie: Now, what happened to youruncle? Where is he?
. Saaphyri: The last I heard, he was in thehospital and he was going through someother legal problems ... , That's what Iheard. I haven't seen him.
Jamie: You didn't have a boytriend duringall of this time?Saaphyri: You know what? When I wasgoing through all this stuff, I was involvedwith a guy who was a celebrity, who wasolder than me-very wealthy. And heccime to me in 2005 and told me that hewas getting ready to get married to some-body else.
Jamie: Oh my.Saaphyri: After we had been together fortwo years.
Jamie: What?! Did he get married?Saaphyri: Yes, he got married in 2006. Thatreally broke my heart. I mean, even thoughI was still like, "There is maybe somebodyout there for me," it broke my heart to thepoint I didn't know exactly how I was goingto react in another relationship, or if I was, even ready for another relationship. Andthis person ... I don't know, am I supposedto say names?
Jamie: Yeah, you can. Did he meet youwhile you were on Flavor Flav's show?Saaphyri: I actually met him back at thebeginning of 2000, because his brotherand his wife used to rent our house.
Jamie: From you? Because your fatherhad the properties?Saaphyri: Exactly. And so they would rentto them the house and that's how I initiallymet him. And then that's how we becamereally close and stuff like that.
Jamie: Well, who is it so we can go beathim up?Saaphyri: Ronald Isley.
Jamie: What,?Saaphyri: Mm-hmm.
Jamie: Well. you know he was alreadymarried.Saaphyri: He wasn't married when I firstgot with him. He had just gotten a divorcefrom Angela. He was messing around withhis new wife. He did have a girlfriend, but Ididn't thln]; that was important. I didn'treally have a lot of respect for anyone thatwould come between a marriage but I fig-ured a girlfriend isn't as important. But Ithink because I wasn't able to express myfeelings a lot, he would say stuff to me likewhy I don't never really express myself. It'sbecause I don't want to be hurt. I don'tknow if I put everything out on the table, ifyou're going to do something like he even-tually did. You know, it was Mother's Dayand we're on the way to church and hecomes by my house to tell me he's gettingmarried.
happy for. It's like there ore still some timeswhen I feel down. And it's like I hear this, voice come lnond say it's going to beokay, just keep going. It's just like, even
. though I was in prison, look what I found, because one of my all-time things that'salways been close to my heart is my HelpHave Hair. It's for people that have alope-cia or cancer. I would make lace wigs byhand. I was in the process of getting itmanufactured, right? When I went toprison there is a program called the JointVenture Program. Now I am going to showyou how God works.
It's called the Joint Venture Program. There was a CO. that was like, "Scophvrl. I,remember you from the show." She hadalopecia. She said, "I noticed you makethose wigs. I heard you were trying to getthem manufactured massively. By goingthrough the prison system, you can get itdone for one third of what I would have topay if I was out."
You know, there's little kids that havealopecia. It's a hard thing to go through. This girl that I went to high school with, herhair would fall out and grow back andpeople would tease her. They didn't under-stand it's a disease. The disease attacksthe hair follicles and it makes it come off.
I don't care what you think, you canlook at something that you think has noimpact, but it actually does because somany people contacted me after "CharmSchool" about alopecia and the wigs andthe hair. "Okay, she had a fight, but look atwhat happened afterward."
Jamie: So is that your mission in life now? What's your mission?Saaphyri: My mission, Jamie, is to eatgood food. I am just going to keep it 100.Eat good food. have much, much love, hqve fun and work. And on another level.yes, I will have these hair pieces ready forpeople that have alopecia and have can-cer. Make them feel better. When your hairain't right. you don't feel right. It comesfrom the Bible-women thinking they needtheir hair, their mane, their glory and with-out this glory they feel bad.
Jamie: Do you think you will fall in loveagain?Saaphyri: I want to.
Jamie: Ronnie was pretty old for you, was-n't he?Saaphyri: I like them old.
Jamie: What's your last name?Saaphyri: Windsor.
Jamie: Windsor. I like that name.Saaphyri: Thank you.
Jamie: You got a good future ahead ofyou.Saaphyri: Thank you.
Jamie: And you're happy?Saaphyri: I'm happy. E,')
Jamie: So what did you think when hewent to jail and he was sick?Saaphyri: I actually wrote him. But hecouldn't get it because we was both in jail.
Jamie: Girl. you are a mess! I don't knowwhat to do with you, honey. Now you'regoing to be on TV. Your family is good. Your.brother is in med school. The dog is okayand you got great friends.Saaphyri: Yes. I feel blessed, Jamie. Onemoment you're on TV. the next momentyou're in jail. One moment you're able togo shopping and buy whatever and thenext moment you're going down to thewelfare office. You know?
Jamie: And you can laugh about it. I amjust amazed and I wish you the best.Saaphyri: Yeah, that's the thing that I am
