SIRAGU MONTESSORI SCHOOL follows the Pattern of Board of

Montessori and ICSE syllabus for each subject offered is, as per their regulations

and we implement all the requirements of the curriculum.

Our students undergo either in ICSE or open schooling system or Cambridge

O’level exam based on their interest and option, so that every student can actively

involve in their studies with total interest.

Student Performance:

In our school, we use variety of assessment strategies and at key

points, in the learning frame work. These include Teachers’ observations, projects

and presentations. The school also participates in the state-wide literacy programmes

for the purposes of identifying individual learning needs and reviewing whole class

Teaching schedules.

Information/Data on each student’s progress is communicated on a

regular basis and leads to opportunities for external assessment.

Winners don’t do different things. They do things differently. Yes, in

our school we work on the basis of Integral education system, we teach them not

only academic subjects, we also teach Agriculture, Climatology, Home Science,

Organic Farming and through four corner learning system.

Hindi Exam:

Our students come out with flying colours in Prathmic, Parichaya and

Madhyama Hindi exams conducted by Hindi Prachar Saba.

Olympiad Exam:

Our school management encouraged Hundreds of children to participate in

National level Olympiad exams on Computer, Science and Mathematics and as

expected our children came out with Excellent results. Out of 500 toppers on

National level, 2 children of our school, stood at Top ranking within the First 50

children.

Every Friday each class has gone for visit to outside environment like Post Of-

fice, Railway Station, Hospital, Village offices, other Schools, Public Libraries, Temples,

Panchayat offices, Bus Depot, Dams, lakes and develop the knowledge on how they func-

tion and their necessity. Details of these visits, enrich their knowledge and understand-

ing on every day to day tasks, so that their perception increases and they become totally

functional and get prepared to face the institutional challenges gained at their Child

hood itself.

NATURAL VISIT

Vandalur Zoo Visit

All the students of our school been to Zoo as part of

Educational Tour. They collected lot of information, so much

that they themselves could develop projects on this tour.

Bhoomi Trust

The competition organized by Bhoomi trust for more than 30 schools in Chennai en-

couraged the students to show their diverse & versatile skills. On this occasion, our students

participated in many competitions and bagged first and second prizes in various competitions

and added glory to our school.

Music classes

Sound becomes soulful music, when handled by trained one, makes it. On

Saturdays and Sundays, our hostel children get training in Music by Teacher from the

NGO visit

One NGO from Poonamalli visited our school, by hearing the

Excellent Educational Services provided by us and they gave

additional inputs on our education system. They expressed happiness

on educational methods evolved by us and wanted to spread this

kind of education to all the neighbouring Villages, to begin with.

Festivals

Christmas, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, Vinayagar Chaturthi,

Vijaya Dasami, Independence Day, Republic Day and Teachers day were

celebrated in our school with lot of devotion and we all Celebrated these

days with joy and Pride. To motivate and improve learning skills like

memory, concentration, keeping cool and remain relaxed in all

occassions, our students have been taught Meditation and Brain Gym

exercises, which they practice, regularly

Science Exhibition

Creativity stimulation camp

Our team of staff and students conducted creativity stimulation

camp to all NSS and College Students of Chennai and Tiruvallur districts

and also to students of Hindu College of Pattabiram. Over 900 students

exhibited their innate skills on this occasion under the able guidance of

our correspondent Dr.Mrs.Uma Muthuram and Scientist

Mr.Ramanujam.

Jeevan Vidya at Hyderabad

Five of our teaching staff went to educational seminar

at Hyderabad for one week conducted by Jeevan Vidya pro-

gramme, during November, 2009.

Health

Health is wealth. Having this in mind, we convene Medical camps

to neediest of nearby villages periodically to inculcate awareness on health.

Dental camp, eye camp

We convened Dental camp, eye camp to the children, parents of our chil-

dren and other general public. Necessary medicines and medical aids were pro-

vided as per doctor’s prescriptions.

Support from other schools

Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Alpha to Omega School, Lalaji Omega

International School, Kendriya Vidhyalaya school, Govt. School of Paalavedu and other

nearby schools supports their whole hearted support to our children for bringing up our

First generation learners. These schools have regular touch with all our endeavors and we

exchange our experiences and expertise, periodically.

Agnihotra pooja

For the welfare of our nation, and to protect our nature, our hostel children do Agnihotra

poojas daily during sunrise in the morning and sunset time in the evening since the year 2007.

Invitation to various programmes

Our school has been invited for various programmes conducted by different organizations. Some of

them are: Round Table Knight Programme, Charity show conducted at Music Academy and Planetarium.

Parent Teacher meetings

Parent Teacher meetings were conducted once in 3 months on regular

basis to share the views of school and to know feedback of improvement of their

children, to the parents.

Library

Students have used our library, digital library in an efficient and effective

way and enriched their learning greatly, Topper channel education Telecast of Tata

sky is also facilitated to our children from KGs to VII standards.

Mathematics Seminar

Mathematics seminar conducted by leading

Institutions of India, have invited our Teachers to their spe-

cial Training Sessions. They taught our staff members how

mathematics can be taught in unconventional and playful

way through various materials.

Brain Gym

The students who have difficulty in learning are

given Brain Gym exercise regularly. After these exercises were

given, there has been marked & big improvement in their learn-

ing speed, grasping, enhancement of memory power, retention

skills of those children.

Tuition for Nadaipathai Pookkal

To engage children in an educational environment, students of Nadaipathai Pookkal is given extra

care by giving special coaching for them, after the School hours.

Community Development

As part of Community Development Programme, we cook in our kitchen and provide mid-day

meals to 50 students and old aged people, who find it difficult to have food during week ends Saturdays and

Sundays. This enabled those children to engage themselves in education actively.

Parent Student and Staff Satisfaction

All Parents agree with the following statement, that “The school helps my child to develop all round

knowledge and understanding”, “the school provides various opportunities for us to become involved” “My

child is encouraged to maximize his/her learning”. “The school provides appropriate information about my

child’s progress. The school offers a range of co-curricular activities”.

To teach well, teachers are to be resourceful. Keeping this in mind,

Teachers were given Teacher Empowerment Training during Monday – Fridays

evenings one hour each. Teachers have extended their total cooperation for the

betterment of their skills and for the benefit of students.

Totally 380 students studied in our school and 105 students stayed in

our school last year and they continue their Education here.

Teachers Training

Last academic year has been a very successful year for Siragu Montessori

School, as mentioned above, be it in the classroom or at a sporting event like our

athletics carnival, competition on academic, we ha won accolades and thereby we all

enjoyed each and every moment. This year, as in previous years, also has been a great

year for Students and Teachers as well, academically, as some of our students have

participated in the Mathematics Olympiad, Science Olympiad,

Computer Olympiad and got notice on National and Global levels, thus we had a bril-

liant year, in the last academic year, 2009-10!
