Single Screw Air Cooled Chiller-Heat Recovery

Overview

Air cooled chilled hot water unit is a kind of central air-conditioning unit with air as the cooling (heating) source and water as the heat carrier. For the traditional air cooled heat pump unit, a large amount of condensing heat is generated during refrigeration and is discharged into the atmosphere, which not only leads to a waste of much energy but also brings heat pollution to the ambient environment. For saving energy, the building itself needs a large amount of domestic hot water supply. If all or part of the condensing heat can be recovered and used for domestic hot water production, not only the environmental pollution caused by the condensing heat will be reduced, but also the energy saving will be achieved. Heat recovering unit is to realize this function by a heat exchanger. High temperature water can be recovered from the high condensing temperature of the air cooled heat recovering unit. This unit can be widely used in the hospitals, hotels, restaurants, factories, bath centers, clubs, etc. As one of the pioneers that design and manufacture large air cooled heat pump units, McQuay has always been devoted to the technical improvement and innovation, and has taken the lead in many aspects in the technical development history of air cooled heat pump unit. MHS is a new air cooled heat pump unit that we have launched for Chinese market. Features

High resistance, against corrosionThe cabinet is made of galvanized steel and coated to provide a high resistance. The unit can be applied under different environment conditions. The rejected heat from exchanger doesn’t bring any pollution and meets the ecology requirement.

Easy to install and simple to maintainOnce power supplies, water piping and water pump provided, no further equipment are needed. The chiller is fully equipped with the necessary electrical components. Our controller monitor the unit operation permanently. In case abnormity happens, the system can perform audio-video alarm and display the fault’s cause to ease the maintenance.

Stepless modulation high efficiency and saving energyMcQuay’s unique newest single screw compressor brings high EER. Multiple circuits design, each unit is configured with one or two compressors and each compressor is configured with an independent refrigerant system, which can meet the load requirements. The cooling capacity can be steles ranging from 12.5% to 100% by micro-processor control.

Exact control and reliable operationWith most advanced electric expansion valve, the unit can control the refrigerant flow as various conditions. Chilled water leaving temperature is controlled to ±0.2℃. In addition, various sensors can transmit the signals and data to the controller, so the unit components are timely checked in order to keep reliable unit operation. Multiple protections ensure the safety operation of the unit. Three-level password protection prevents non-professional personnel from errors and ensures a safety operation. The compressor start one by one, so the electric current is low to reduce the impact to electric network.

Low noise and low vibrationAs the compact structure, the unit basement bears the loads of compressor, condenser, evaporator, oil separator and the weight of all related refrigerant piping. As our standard features, units are equipped with spring absorber. No vibration is expected from our unique type of F4 single screw compressor. The condenser fan is compete with high efficiency propeller fan, direct drive with low noise. The compressor sound insulation enclosure is provided as standard to decrease the compressor’s operation noise effectively.

Wide range of applicationsMcQuay heat recovering unit can realize refrigeration and supply heat and domestic hot water. The heat recovering unit can produce hot water by the condensing heat generated in the refrigeration circulation. In the season when air-conditioner or refrigeration equipment is used, the hot water produced by the unit can meet the water supply for the bath use in the guest room, washing use in the kitchen and hot water demand in processing and others.

Intelligent controlThe integrated intelligent control system of McQuay heat recovering unit includes the man-machine operation interface, unit control management, networking and communication, failure protection, alarming, etc. The operations can be implemented safely and automatically.

Energy-efficientThe heat recovering technology adopted by McQuay heat recovering unit can enhance the cooling efficiency, reduce electric power consumption and extend the operation life of the unit. For the partial heat recovering air-conditioning unit, the heat exchanger on the heat recovering side will absorb part of the condensing heat. Then the heat load of the original condenser is reduced and the heat exchanging efficiency will be enhanced and the efficiency of the air-conditioning unit will be increased as well. For the full heat recovering air-conditioning unit, all the condensing heat will be absorbed. So the power consumption by the fan of the original air side heat exchanger can be saved and the power consumption can be reduced significantly.

It is equipped with forecast logical programming software to perform the best combination of compressor and fan at higher EER. The controller can check the parameters and settings and then act accordingly to improve the energy efficiency and maximum reliability.

Compression principles

Suction: Gas flows through the suction port into open ends of available grooves. As the screw rotates, gate-rotor teeth enter the seal grooves in sequence, refrigerant gas in chambers defined by three sides of the grooves, the compressor casing and the gate-rotor tooth surface.

Compression: Volume in each tooth chamber decreases as the screw rotates. Gas is continuously compressed until the groove leading edge passes the discharge port.

Discharge: Release of gas into the discharge chamber ends the compression cycle. Gas continues to be discharged until the gate-rotor reduces groove volume to zero. With two gate-rotors equalized on opposite sides of the screw, this process occurs twice with each screw revolution, doubling the compressor capacity of the unit.

1.3 Single Screw CompressorWith leading technology, McQuay’s semi-hermetic single screw compressor has such features as high-efficiency, saving energy, stability, quietness, few operation components and long durability.

Few operation components

The single screw compressor is equipped with only five operation components: a screw rotor, two gaterotors and two energy adjusting slide valve. The screw rotor is parts painted aluminum, and the gate-rotor is equipped with eleven-tooth high strength compound material.

Long durability and high reliability

With equalizing compression, the single screw can reduce the bearing load to extend the bearing durability.The gate-rotor, which is made of high-intension synthetic material, can keep exact and minimum clearance to ensure the operation is under no abrasion.The oil-ejection and liquid-ejection design of the compressor enables the overheat-gas declines to minimum, which eliminates to decompose the oil and refrigerant in overheat condition.

Easy to maintain The gate-rotor box is designed with disassembly side cover, which makes the regular examine easy.Disassembling and installing the pipe provides direct way to examine the internal components of the compressor.

Bearing durability The bearing durability of the single screw compressor is as three or five times as that of twin-screw compressor.

Low noise and low vibration

The single screw compressor performs complete balance load in operation, so its vibration is near to zero and its noise reaches the minimum of the industry standard.It does not contact metal completely in compression, which eliminates high-frequency noise.“Abnormity” discharge chamber design eliminates discharge noise.

Gate-rotor and rotors

The single screw compressor, with excellent unique design and special gate-rotor material, and no need for metal hermetic requirement between the gate-rotor and rotors, reaches “zero-interval”. The liquid refrigerant brings more effects as hermetic, lubricant and cooling material when the compressor rotors operate. What’s more, its interval of the teeth is very little and the resistance is very low, which can improve the unit’s efficiency.

High-efficiency oil separator

The system is equipped with high-efficiency oil separator to improve the oil separating efficiency to 99.7%, In this way, the reliability and efficiency are improved in compressor operation.

Axial force balance With opposing and equal suction pressure at both ends of the screw member, the huge thrust loads of twinscrew compressor design are eliminated.

Radial force balance

Gate rotors on both sides of the screw member compressing simultaneously completely balanced radial loading on the rotating screw, nearly eliminates bearing wear. This is a sharp contrast with twin-screw designs whose bearing size is limited and higher loads directly impact bearing life.Twin-screw is with unbalance loading.Without balance compression, the twin-screw increases axial loads and radial loads, and it increases abrasion, which affects the bearing life.
