Transcript of Single Girls To-Do Book Review

Recently I was given the task to write a book review, to start with I was so excited. I love reading and find nothing more relaxing than a good night in dressed in comfy clothes, with a nice large glass of rose some chocolate and a decent book but then not everyone relishes the thought of my type of book. I have to admit unless theyre studying English Ive not met a lot of girls who share my love of Charles Dickens and Emily Bront. After this epiphany I quickly rang my sister to find out what normal girls our age are reading. She suggest I try a Lindsey Kelk book as they were always full of fun, boys and giggles. So points card in hand I waltzed off to Waterstones and snatched up her latest piece of work The Single Girls To-Do List and meandered back to my flat.

Within two days, including essential loo breaks and cups of tea with the occasional interruptions from the flatmates to find out whether or not I was still alive and if I wanted to watch TOWIE, I devoured the book. After this straight through reading session my first reaction was to try to stop and breathe. The next was to go and rant to the other girls I live with about how brilliant I found it, whilst the boys just watched amused by my lunatic raving.

The book is essentially about Rachel Summers a 28 year old make-up artist obsessed with writing lists, who after thinking for years her boyfriend was the man she wanted to settle down and start a family with dumps her out of the blue. Well weve all that the odd mysterious break-up but her and her two fabulous friends take it upon themselves and several bottles of wine to write a list of thing she needs to do to be officially single and get over this routine of a simple life she has got stuck in.

Of course the adventures involve the usual break up routine for many of us girls, new haircut, new shoes, wine, nights out, and treating ourselves to something ridiculously expensive and a tad selfish, except they go on to involve adventures abroad and old sweethearts. Needless to say Rachel wins out in the end.

This book had the same affect on me as Eat,Pray,Love did on millions. It made me want to become adventurous, be fun and spontaneous and of course fall in love in that way only a book or Hollywood film could perfectly portray. But most of all to write a list of all the things I want to do after being in this ever so boring routine after my own few crappy break-ups.

I obviously wont be running off to other countries to fall in love with estranged school sweethearts however I shall definitely be using the Single Girls To-Do list as a plan of action for myself and my friends in the future thanks to Lindsey Kelk.
