Promoting water conservation Initiatives

1. Walk for Water: This is a mass walk from Gardens by the Bay East to Marina Barrage to raise awareness of the 5 water savings tips that participants can practise at home.

2. 5 Water-Saving Habits Exhibits with Game Stations and 17 Community Booths: event participants are encouraged to visit the 5 activity stations and community partners’ booths to learn more about water conservation at home. Once visitors have collected 5 stamps from visiting the activity stations and/or partners’ booths, they can redeem a premium.

3. “I Save” Pledge: Participants will be issued with a

pledge card for them to indicate which water-saving tip they will adopt at home and sign off with their name and contact details. In return for dropping off their pledges with us, they will be given a token.

Canberra will hold a year-long water bill contest in

conjunction with their recycling drives throughout the

year until next Canberra Day, which will be announced

during Canberra Day 2018.

‘I Save’ pledge booth

1. Water Bill: Participants are encouraged to bring down their water bills to show their water savings for past months, and to redeem a token for their effort towards water reduction.

2. “I Save” Pledge: Participants will be encouraged to commit to adopt water saving tips by taking up the ‘I Save’ pledge.

3. Demonstration on installing water thimbles: Volunteers will be teaching residents on how to install thimbles to reduce water flow.

*Nee Soon South Water Saving Challenge 2017 This contest is open to all Nee Soon South residents who are able to show a reduction in their water bills from Jul-Dec 2017, as compared to Jan-Jun 2017. Residents must submit all 12 water bills, and show that the amount incurred from Jul-Dec is the same or less than the amount incurred from Jan-Jun. The top 100 winners selected will each receive a $100 voucher. This initiative is fully supported by Nee Soon South.

16 PCF Sparkletots Preschools of North East District 3 will be organising “We Make Every Drop Count” event to celebrate Singapore World Water Day (SWWD). The various preschools will be showcasing water conservation initiatives conducted by the students and schools. There will be water conservation related performances by PCF to further promote the awareness of water conservation. Watermark Awards honour individuals and organisations in the public, private and people (3P) sector for their outstanding water efficiency achievements. It is an annual award organised by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, that recognises 3P Partners’ contributions towards the promotion and implementation of water use efficiency in Singapore. PUB proactively sources for eligible candidates; and the shortlisted candidates will be evaluated by a selection panel comprising experts from the different sectors. 10 Water Rationing Exercise Students are reminded of the importance to cherish water. Since 2016, schools have been organising Water Rationing Exercise during the month of March to mark SWWD. This year, a bumper crop of Pre-School, Primary, Secondary and tertiary school students will be involved in a water rationing exercise in March. By going through the challenges, our young generation will learn to cherish every drop of water.

13 Henkel Singapore Pte Ltd Henkel Pte Ltd is conducting their ‘Sustainability Ambassador School Outreach Program’ with 6 Little Footprints centres on 22 March. 30 staff will be going to each centre, reaching out to 135 students, for a half-day programme where they will share more on sustainability and the 5 water saving tips. In conjunction with World Oral Health Day and World

Water Day, Colgate with Singapore Dental Association

and PUB kicks off the month-long campaign with an

attempt to set Singapore Book of Record with the most

number of families brushing their teeth together. This

year’s theme of “Get Mouth Fit” is aimed at increasing

the awareness of good oral hygiene habits, as well as

inculcating habits such as turning off the tap while

brushing starting from young.
