The Park Connector Network (PCN) of Singapore is under the management of

National Parks Board (NParks).

NParks is also responsible for the management of over 300 parks and the streetscape (or roadside greenery).

There is a hierarchy and diversity of parks, ranging from

large regional parks to neighbourhood parks and playgrounds, where a

spectrum of natural ecosystems co-exists with horticultural gardens.

Nparks is also responsible for the design and implementation of

the PCN, the network that connects these green spaces together

To ensure that all residents will have direct and easy access to

green open spaces and water fronts.

“Shangri- La” meaning:

An imaginary remote paradise on earth; utopia.

A distant and secluded hideaway, usually of great beauty and peacefulness.

Shangri La Singapore

The design is a competition winning scheme and show case a good holistic

architecture. The hospital replaced a park, without loosing the green lung qualities,

and successfully became a center for the whole community.

Page 56: Singapore nature & the city- nirit ellenbogen 26.12.2012

Hospital as a community centre which attracts healthy people from the neighborhood,

to jog, eat, study, or simply enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.

Hospital also promotes healthy life style.

Page 57: Singapore nature & the city- nirit ellenbogen 26.12.2012

Hospital as a community centre which takes

care of sick and healthy people as well.

Page 58: Singapore nature & the city- nirit ellenbogen 26.12.2012

Page 59: Singapore nature & the city- nirit ellenbogen 26.12.2012

Hospital as a community centre which invites hospital staff, patients and people from

the neighborhood, who don’t have a private garden, to do urban farming on it’s roofs.

Vision, Vision,

Vision…!

Targets should be

Validated and Redefined,

If necessary, And….

Mistakes can be rectified!

Hospital can become a

community centre for ALL,

and even a recreational place.
