Consulate General of SingaporeThe Singapore Consulate General provides consular assistance to all Singaporeans in Hong Kong and Macau, and aims to promote relations between Singapore and the two SARs.

Singapore Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong)The Singapore Chamber, incorporated since 1995, helps advance, develop and promote business networking connections and cooperation amongst the business communities in Singapore, Hong Kong, China and the region. It is comprised of Singaporean executives working in Hong Kong as well as companies with businesses in Singapore. The Chamber works to foster closer economic links, trade relationships, business understanding and cooperation among the community.

Singapore Chamber of Commerce China Network (SCN)Following China’s accession to the WTO, the need to create a virtual and operating network to assist SCC members and Singaporean enterprises venturing into the Mainland became apparent. The Singapore community makes a valuable contribution to Hong Kong’s cultural and social calendar. A National Day celebration is held every August, jointly hosted by the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Singapore Association.

Singapore has also presented in several important cultural events in Hong Kong. Several arts galleries from Singapore, including AVUZ FINE ART, Gajah Gallery and Richard Koh Fine Art exhibited their art pieces from Asian region in ART HK 12. These performances and exhibitions have been promoting the arts and cultural exchange between the two cities. In the Para Site International Conference 2013, several Singapore artists and curators were invited to discuss the contemporary condition of art. Participants included Charles Merewether, Director of Institute of Contemporary Arts, Singapore; Shabbir Hussain Mustafa, curator at National University of Singapore Museum; and David Teh, the curator and director of Future Project.

Singapore’s visual artists exhibit regularly in Hong Kong’s many galleries, and Singaporean designers are actively involved in many of Hong Kong’s restaurant and interior design projects.

Arts & Culture

The Singapore AssociationThe Singapore Association is a group of volunteers who assist Singaporean of multiple professions working in Hong Kong to integrate into the communities; and at the same time acting as ambassadors to Hong Kong professionals who may have vast interests in Singapore communities, professional and social networking, fostering closer ties and cross-border activities such as business, career opportunities, lifestyle and friendship between the two countries.

Travelling Between Singapore and Hong KongHong Kong makes an extremely convenient hub for travel. Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, United Airlines and China Airlines operate daily direct flights between the two cities.

Visa Requirements for VisitorsIn general, Singaporean nationals do not need a visa to enter Hong Kong for a short-term stay. Most are granted a 90 day visitor’s visa upon arrival. Visitors are not allowed to study or work in Hong Kong.

World Class Infrastructure

Education for Singaporean ChildrenEducation for expatriates and non-Chinese speaking children in Hong Kong is provided by over 50 international schools. The largest provider of international education in Hong Kong is the English Schools Foundation (ESF), which runs 21 schools. Admission is subject to available places and academic selection criteria. It is advisable for parents to apply to a school before arriving in Hong Kong.

The Singapore International School, established in September 1991, provides quality bilingual preparatory and primary education in English and Mandarin to Singaporeans as well as children of all nationalities. The school follows the Singapore primary curriculum with English, Chinese (Putonghua), mathematics and science as the core subjects. Other subjects include moral education, health education, social studies, art, physical education, music, drama and dance. Information Technological (IT) skills, creativity and innovation and Interdisciplinary Project Work (IPW) are part of the curriculum.
