• One of the most basic concepts is the dynamicanalysis of enzymatic reactions using rate equations.

•The first practical cell simulation model was a human erythrocyte simulation model.

•This is a deterministic simulation model.

•Simulation model is reconstructed from major metabolic pathways of the erythrocyte, Integrated with glycolysis, pentose phosphate pathway and nucleic acid metabolic pathway.

•Cell uptakes glucose from plasma then glycolysis, generating ATP.

• ATP molecules are consumed mostly for the ion transport systems in order to maintain electroneutrality and osmotic balance.

•Erythrocytes are the best target for metabolic simulation due to their simplicity.

•E-CELL system, a computer model of the human erythrocyte was developed.

•Prototype model of a human erythrocyte consisted of glycolysis, pentose phosphate pathway, nucleotide metabolism and simple membrane transport systems

•During calculation of steady state, improved parameters and kinetic equations

•The simulation was run for more than 200,000 seconds in simulation time, until the model reached steady state.

•One of the very important factors is the stability and robustness of a system on the cellular simulation.

•All living organisms create this “stability” using very subtle mechanisms in order to maintain homeostasis.

•There are two systems used for the improvement of stability of the system.

1)feed-back mechanism ,and 2)redundancy

•The cell has to vary its volume while balancing osmotic pressure.

•In this model, the cell volume is made to increase or decrease until both osmotic pressures became equal.
