Key packages for secondary schools:

Drive improved teaching and learning by ensuring you’re getting the most out of your data Successful school improvement strategies rely on the effective collection and use of data. Data can be your biggest asset throughout the whole process, from self-evaluation to decide upon and implement your strategies, through to monitoring and reviewing the impact of these on pupil outcomes.

The SIMS School Improvement Programme offers bespoke, advanced tools for developing your school’s assessment policy as well as automated reports for sharing the relevant data with your various stakeholders and the support of expert consultants in developing the use of data in your school. All of our SIMS school improvement consultants have worked as senior leaders and have a proven track record of helping schools provide evidence of improvement to parents, governors and Ofsted.

We offer a range of packages which can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your school.

Effective use of SIMS for school improvement

SIMS Data Dashboard

Ensure your school staff always have up-to-date key data at their fingertips with the SIMS Data Dashboard. Data is presented in easily assimilated charts with the functionality to filter, zoom and drill down. These can be customised to meet the different needs of you staff from the senior management team to teachers, ensuring everyone has easy access to the data they need. This powerful automated reporting service allows you to select from a multitude of insightful data dashboards, such as: • Attendance• Absence• Achievement• Behaviour• Key group performance indicators• Progress and Attainment 8• Staff absence.

Gain intelligence from your data to identify school improvement priorities and prove the impact of your strategies on pupil outcomes. An expert consultant will work with you to review how you are currently using your MIS and how best to develop the effective use of data throughout your school in support of whole school improvement and develop an ‘always prepared’ for inspection policy.

You’ll benefit from:• A SIMS strategic development report and action plan providing

personalised recommendations for developing the use of data to better support school improvement

• Insight into how SIMS can support senior leaders, middle leaders and governors

• Follow-up support from your SIMS school improvement consultant.

Governors

Ensure your school governors have access to the data they need from SIMS, including key performance indicators, attendance, behaviours and academic progress as well as continual professional development and target setting against Ofsted criteria. This package will develop governors’ skills in the analysis of data so that they can not only challenge school leaders, but also support the school in meeting its school improvement priorities.

Self-evaluation

School improvement is most successful when there is a balance of internal self-evaluation and external review. Our consultants take an objective view and evaluate both quantitative and qualitative performance measures. The day provides an opportunity for a thorough review of the school’s approach to self-evaluation, monitoring and performance management using SIMS to provide evidence. There is also a focus on how different areas of SIMS can be used to identify the impact of intervention strategies, as well as the school’s strengths and priorities for development.

“The school improvement team have been integral in allowing us to look at data with a different perspective. The data it produces informs so many decisions in our school. The school improvement team have been a real help to channel the way we do things in our school and we’re now doing that with the primary schools too. Their experience is invaluable.”
