Set your pocket holej ig and drill bit for 3/4-inch stock (makeadjustments as needed if fence picketsare less than 3/4-inch thick). Make twoRails as seen at right (label them EndRails), and two Rails WITHOUT thetwo pocket holes on each end (labelthem Side Rails).

NOTEPosition one of the End Railsas shown and attach to the Legswith the pocket holes usingglue and 1 1 /4-inch or 1 -inchgalvanized brads (if using fencepickets that are less than 3/4-inch thick). Make twoassemblies. Label these as theEnd Assemblies.Note: You will need to makeadjustments to account for thethickness of fence pickets (ifusing them), specifically thedistance from the outer edge ofthe Legs.

Position one of the Side Rails as shown and attach to theLegs without pocket holes using glue and 1 1 /4-inch or 1 -inch galvanized brads (if using fence pickets that are lessthan 3/4-inch thick). Make two assemblies. Label these asthe Side Assemblies.Note: You will need to make adjustments to account forthe thickness of fence pickets (if using them), specificallythe distance from the outer edge of the Legs.

NOTEPosition the remaining Top Slat asshown above and at right (flush withthe ends of the other two Top Slats andcentered), and attach using glue and 11 /4-inch pocket hole screws. Drive thescrews through the pocket holes in theRails and into the Top Slat.

Position two Top Slats as shown at left(overhanding the assembly by 5/8-inch off theend and side), and attach using glue and 1 1 /4-inch pocket hole screws. Drive the screwsthrough the pocket holes in the Rails and into theTop Slats.
