Define :-The simple past tense describes actions and states that began and ended at a specific time in the past.
Example: I lived in France in 1980. He was sick last week.
They were late yesterday.
THERE ARE FOUR TYPES OF SENTENCES IN SIMPLE PAST TENSE :-
POSITIVE SENTENCES NEGATIVE SENTENCES INTEROGATIVE SENTENCES INTRONEGATIVE SENTENCES
* To form positive statements : Subject + main verb (past simple) + object .
Subject + 2nd form of verb (past simple) + object .
• To form negative statements:
Subject + (auxiliary verb + not) main verb (base form) +
object .
Subject + did not + 1st form of verb or base form + object .
To form interogative sentence :
Auxiliary verb + subject + main verb (base verb) + object .
Did + subject + 1st form of verb (or base verb) + object .
To form interonegative statements did + not (didn’t) + base form
Example:
