Simple Past Tense
Simple Past Tense is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now. Duration is not important. The time of the action can be in the recent past or the distant past.
Simple Past Timeline
In Simple Past tense, have a Particular Time in the Past or Adverb of Time. They
are:
- Long time ago- Once upon a time- One day- Long ago- Two years ago- Yesterday- Last week- A few years ago- The day before yesterday
Subject + V2 + Object + Adverb of Time
Formula with Verb
Subject + To be + not + V1 + Object + Adverb of Time
To be + Subject + V1 + Object + Adverb of Time
Note: To be: Did

If use 5W/1H: Where, Why, What, When, Who and How
5W/1H + Did + Subject + V1 + Object?

The past form for all regular
verbs ends in -ed.
Irregular Verbs

The past form for irregular
verbs is variable. You
need to learn it by heart.
EXAMPLE OF REGULAR AND IRREGULAR VERBS

Formula with Noun /Adjective
if you don’t know the verb, to be turned into was /were
