Simple machines are used every day to make our lives
easier.A flagpole is an example
of a simple machine.
There are six simple machines.
• Pulley• Lever• Wedge• Wheel and axle• Inclined Plane• Screw
Pulley• A pulley is a
simple machine that uses grooved wheels and a rope to raise.
Levers• A lever is a stiff
bar that rests on a support called a fulcrum which lifts orr moves loads.
• Scissors are an example of a lever we use daily.
Wedge• A wedge is an
object with at least one slanting side ending in a sharp edge.
• Can you name this wedge?
A wheel and axle consists of a wheel with a rod called an axle through its center that
lifts or moves loads.
Inclined Plane• An inclined plane is a slanting
surface connecting a lower level to a
higher level.
QuickTime™ and aTIFF (Uncompressed) decompressor

Screw• A screw is an inclined plane
wrapped around a pole which holds things together or lifts materials.
