Simple Bikes was born in 2011

in the city of Amsterdam, where

we live and work, out of a desire

to spread Dutch cycling culture

around the world. We saw the ris

ing popularity of Dutch style bikes

across the globe, but found they

were often just pale imitations of

the bikes that have ridden around

over here for over a 100 years

Sure, they resembled the real

deal from far, but when we looked

closely they seemed to lack some

of the things that truly define

a Dutch bike. Things like the

all important upright ride and

comfort geometry, the classic

frame designs and the minute

While we prided ourselves on our

authentic heritage, we also de

Sputnik | when we first saw this bike being built up, it just reminded us of a Soviet era satellite, with the spacey handbrushed frame and the metallic painted fenders, calling it the Sputnik just seemed like the right thing to do. This bikes defines retro style commuting, and if we had to pick a city that best reflects it, that’s Simple, we would choose Berlin, one of the coolest places on earth.

Boyz and Girlz | Our kids wanted their own Simple rides too, but it had to be completely different to the usual cutesy bikes out there. So we decided to downsize the adult bikes and turn them into little big bikes. They look so good with the colored side-wall tires and seventies graphics, that now we’re jealous, can we have one in a bigger size too ?
