sane people happy? is a pretty tiny girl, with fancy colourful clothes and some interesting accessories (astrange bag or pin for instance). She has got strange and out of social rules behaviours->butresulting finally in meaningful and valuableDoctor-> is a pondered, extremely rational and not really happy person. His life is tidy, quitemonotonous and socially recognized as perfect and successful. He is business and generallysuccess oriented. No mistake is tolerated, precision and rules are the keywords . He wears ablack/grey suit, he should be a nice-looking guy.

Plot:We can briefly describe the day of a psychologist going to work (just using suggestions, detailsand spots of frames). He wakes up early, all the breakfast stuff is prepared an ready to be used(1), positioned in a really precise and quite boring way. Extremely punctual, takes the bus,tides the house up, put on his clothes stretching every winkle (2). There are some flowerpetals on the floor, sunflowers petal perhaps. He picks them up, looks to them like disturbedby their irregular presence on the floor(3), and throw them in the bin with a vigorous andsatisfied gesture (4).

The day is bad and grey. During the itinerary to the office (he is a a psychologist), a girl in thebus suddenly clashes on him (6). (The same scene could be also shot in a street or at the busstop->in the street version, people should walk all in the same direction (5), with nervous andquick pace, none looking to other faces). We cant see her face, but we can see she has somesunflowers in her hand. She has got bright colours and peculiar clothes, contrasting with theblack, grey and generally not so vivid clothes of the crowd, flowing in the same direction at thesame speed. After some seconds of embarrassment, she offers to him her sunflowers (7),saying nothing. We keep not seeing her, just aknwoledging of this fact through some shots ofthe details -> her hand stretching in offering act, the face of the psychologist reactingnegatively to the offer. He just looks to her badly, knitting his brows and making a face likesaying what do you exactly want from me? Youre interfering with my plans and have to go towork!.

The psychologist soon arrives at his office and does his ordinary things in a precise and veryorganized way (asking the secretary for news and mails, checking everything is well set up andorganized to start the work day etc).

Now we see patients entering the room, one by one. I imagine it as a repetitive flow (9) inwhich time is signalled by minute hands running in the clock (10), we see almost the same forevery patient (no diegetic sound, only music that exalts the boredom and the redundancy of

things happeningjust like the way in which Kubrik represented the sex scene between Alexand the two girls in A clockwork orange->with speed pace, music describing the flow oftimethe difference is that in clockwork, scenes should have been more interesting and lessmonotonous;) ): patients talking, psychologist nodding and taking some notes (detail his handwriting), minutes hands running

Is late afternoon, the last patient of the day is announced by the secretary to the psychologist(who looks more and more stressed, serious and bored).

Detail of door opening, we see the shoes of the girl entering (e.g.: kind of colourful ballerinasor something that eccentric, that simply broke with the monotony perceived till now). (11)

We see girls face, but neither the psychologist (nor spectators) should recognize her as the girlof the morning clash. She sits on the chair as soon as the psychologist invite her to. Thepsychologist is tired and in bad humor so he doesnt even look to her face. He invites her to

start talking with a simple and bored hand gesture. She starts talking about her day (12), witha cheerful and pleasant voice, she looks radiant: Im in love with life, she says. While shesexplaining her day we can see flashbacks of her messy but extremely tasty breakfast, shegoing to work (shes a florist) saying hallo to people, even if she doesnt know them...wavingher hand and smilingthe same day that looks so bad to the psychologist was sunny and bluefor the girl. Doctor seems unprepared to so much joy, he pretends writing notes but in fact he

seems annoyed in someway to such explosion of life.

The girl continues her daylife description, until she finally tell the psychologist she has metsomeone special during that day, an happiness seeker, as she describes him. She says shetried and offered him some sort of joy, but he refused. She finally tells the psychologist shewants to meet him (the happiness seeker) again, and try to teach him how to smile and love.And she gives the psychologist a little piece of paper, in which she has drawn down a sketch ofa stylized man (with notes like: HANDSOME, TOO SERIOUS, BLACK TIE, RIGID SUIT etc) (13) andher phone number, asking him to call her as soon as he found that man.

Psychologist looks shocked and barely nods to her. She stands up, smiles and says she has togo. She then turns back and goes away in a rush. As she exits the room, some sunflowerspetals fell down from her jacket (14).The psychologist, noticing this and remembering about the morning event, suddenly looks tohis jacket. There are still some sunflowers petals (15).

He opens his eyes, full of excitement (16). He takes immediately the piece of paper drawn bythe girl, dials the phone number and after some few rings (17), she answered with a calm andseemingly prepared to the call voice: Are you ready?. (18)

I imagine the film closing with no other words, only the angles of the psychologists mouthrising up. (19)
