0.1 TEXT: RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN

0.1 TEXT: RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKENSelf written project based around my dissertation “How has ‘digital’ affected the way in which designers use typography?” I focused mainly on the question “Will ‘digital’ methods of placing type eventually make young designers unaware of typographic fundamentals?” This sparked an area in which educationally lacked in my life, tuition based around typography whether in school, college or university.

DAVID SNOW SCULPTURES

David Snow is a sculptor from Exeter, Devon. He is an unknown artist and was in need for a website to help promote himself.

“I am particularly interested in the human form with attention to detail.” David Snow

He was wanting the whole feel of the logo and

site to be clean and straight forward. So this was the package that I sent to him which he was extremely happy with. The pack included:

1. Logo2. Website3. Business Cards4. Certificate of Authenticity

GROW OLD: WHEN I’M 68

A0 poster to show my life plan. This poster is simply illustrating what I will look like in 2057 when I am 68 years old.

This is the book cover design I created for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. It captures the scene where Alice is falling down the hole in chase of the rabbit. I tried to illustrate Alice in motion falling with the background representing the card suit diamonds.

INTERACTIVE TOTE BAGS / OVER SIZED WEATHER T-SHIRTS

Interactive Tote Bags

1. Polaroid - The idea for this bag came from things with straps which you would hold the same as the bag. So the 3 colour screenprint has the straps of the camera sewn on to make a third strap and also a clear pocket allowing the user to add their own polaroid picture so that it appears to be processing from the camera.

2. Typewriter - This bag interacts in the form of a typewriter with the paper feeding from out of the top. This bag was a thank you present so the paper which feeds out of this bag says “Thank you so much.”

Over sized weather, Screenprinted T - Shirts

1. Lightning - Playing with scale and weather I created this 2 colour screenprint showing a large lightning bolt above a small destroyed umbrella.

2. Rain - Playing with scale and weather again I created this 2 colour screenprint showing a large rain drop above a small umbrella.

FAKERY: WOULD I LIE TO YOU?

FAKERY: WOULD I LIE TO YOU?“Would I Lie to you?” is a collaborative project with Gareth Butterworth for ISTD: Fakery. We interpreted the brief by creating four posters using four different mediums of print; Spray paint, Screen Print, Letterpress and Digital inkjet.

The same phrase follows across the poster with the descriptive word change on the basis of the process relating to the four senses, spray = smell, inkjet = sound, screenprint = look and letterpress = feel. Then the subtle lie is in the copy in the bottom right hand corner; process, pantone value, paper size and stock.
