NewsCoagucheck INR Meter training

Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week runs from 17 - 23 June and to mark the occasion we're sharing some positive patient feedback for DBTH. Click here to read more about one patient's experience with our rheumatology department and her appointments with our Clinical Therapies team.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in her care.

The Trust has some Coagucheck INR Meter training sessions available to drop into. Each day has four sessions lasting around an hour each at: 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2pm.

If you manage an Acute area where staff cannot leave their station, a one-off Webex training is offered by Roche for smaller groups. This is run by a member of the training team over the internet using a presentation and webcam. Please contact POCT on 644038 for details on how you can arrange this directly with Roche.

Pay deal awareness sessions The HR team have organised some pay deal awareness sessions for members of staff who are interested in learning more about the pay deal changes, how it affects their pay and how it works.

The sessions will be on 21 June, 2-3pm and 11 July 1-3pm. Both sessions will be in the DRI Lecture Theatre and video conferences to the Boardrooms at Bassetlaw and Montagu.

The Trust would like to extend a warm welcome to Emma Richards, Transfusion Practitioner. Emma said: “I have come from a Biomedical Science background so have a lot of experience with the lab side of transfusion and I am really interested in building relationships between the lab and the wards. I will be making regular visits to the wards/departments so if you have any issues relating to anything transfusion related then feel free to approach me on these visits.”

You can contact Emma on 642574 or bleep 1470. Alternatively you can email her at [email protected]

Welcoming Emma, our new Transfusion Practitioner

An independent audit was recently carried out, looking into DBTH’s payroll. The assessment highlighted that – due to inaccurate and late data being submitted by line-managers – overpayments are occurring in the Trust. Not only does this cause distress to employees, but each case also takes up significant time and effort to resolve.

With that in mind, it’s important that line-managers are submitting payroll data correctly and on time. If this applies to you and you are unsure of the relevant deadlines, then you can find them here.

600 days MRSA free!DBTH is celebrating 600 days since our last case of hospital-acquired MRSA!

This achievement is a result of the Trust's zero-tolerance approach to healthcare associated infections and the hard work of all of our staff.

The Pennine ryles tubes we currently use have been taken out of circulation for a short period due to a defect where the eye holes are absent on some tubes.

Plan agreed by patient safety review group:If you have a stock of the pennine tubes on your ward, a visual check to ensure the eye holes are present must be completed prior to insertion. Once stock of the pennine tubes is depleted, an alternative tube will be available. this will be the yellow corpak feeding/drainage tube (pictured). This is an EnFit tube therefore will need screw on drainage bags and purple EnFit syringe to aspirate. The tube must only be used for drainage if the correct position safety checks have been completed to administer feed/fluid via the tube.

For further information and support please contact Hannah Stirland, Nutrition Nurse Specialist on bleep 1812.

Pennine Ryles tubes The following complementary letter about Bassetlaw Hospital was sent to Matt Hancock from a patient. Dear Secretary of State,

I am a retired director of a FTSE 100 company and recently spent several days in our local Bassetlaw hospital, [A & E, ATC ward, and fracture clinic]. I have had responsibilities on a global basis and have experienced a wide variety of approaches to health-care.

I would like to compliment the wide range of staff at the hospital for their individual and collective attitude and customer care in particular. Even when staff are under tremendous pressure the care af-forded me and my fellow patients was exemplary.

Cleanliness of facilities, communications, quality of food and a commendable commitment to getting things done in a timely manner was exceptional. Would you please extend my gratitude to all con-cerned for a quite remarkable experience and one I shall remember for many years to come.

Thank you Bassetlaw

To support the rollout of ESR Manager Self Service, the HR Systems team need to do a bit of housekeeping, in the form of a data cleanse.

They will require a bit of cooperation in order to make sure that everything is accurate and up to date. With that in mind, if you are a manager, then you should expect to receive various emails from the team about the supervisor hierarchy in your division. Find more info here.
