McAllister Thomas is delighted to be hosting a new exhibition of works by Simeon Stafford entitled ‘Fifty Years of Painting’. As a Gallery we have been representing Simeon for over 5 years. On this occasion and as a pure coincidence, this will be the gallery’s fiftieth exhibition since opening, so how fitting to be hosting a show by this great naive artist. If you are familiar with his work you will be aware that they are a joy to behold: grabbing the viewer and pulling them into a world of naive fun, dreams and happy childhood memories. Collectors often comment that they still find something new in each piece many years after their original purchase. There is a nostalgic echo to Simeon’s paintings that each and every one of us can identify with, an essence that captures the excitement and expectation, of any old day seen through a child's eyes. These paintings nourish the child within us all and as Simeon strongly believes and frequently states ‘life should be full of fun’. Widely regarded as one of the country's most sought after living naive artists, Simeon Stafford has been widely exhibited, amongst others at the Royal Academy in 2001 and the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro.
