of year. The weather in New York is

unstable, low temperatures and snow

storms near the end of spring through

early fall may occur.

summers of the city are hot and humid, with highs

between 32° C to 38° C, and average temperature of 23°

C. The highest temperature ever recorded in New York

was 42° C, in the year 1966, on July 3. The annual

New York was founded by Dutch settlers

named New Amsterdam. Only received its

current name after being conquered by the

English in 1664. The York came from English

nobleman James Francis Edward Stuart, Duke

of York.

Nova York foi fundada por colonos holandeses com o nome de Nova

Amsterdã. Só recebeu o atual nome após ter sido conquistada pelos

ingleses em 1664. O York veio do nobre inglês James Francis

Edward Stuar, Duque de York.

The New Yorker subway is one of the oldest in

the world. Opened in 1904, it is today a favorite

of filmmakers scenarios that run the city.

Between 1970 and 1975, the metro was 36 film

set. So many productions which today leaves a

station on Line 6 which is only used for filming.

• O metrô novaiorquino é um dos mais antigos do mundo. Inaugurado em 1904, ele é até hoje um dos cenários preferidos dos cineastas que rodam na cidade. Entre 1970 e 1975, o metrô foi cenário de 36 filmes. São tantas produções que hoje existe uma estação abandona na linha 6 que é usada só para filmagens.

The city has five boroughs: Brooklyn, Bronx,

Staten Island, Queens and Manhattan. The main

financial and cultural center of the city is

Manhattan. It is there that is Times Square,
