Ref: CTS-MDS-09-03-Rev1 Reference Electrodes SILVER SILVER CHLORIDE WE200 REFERENCE ELECTRODE FOR PERMANENT SOIL APPLICATIONS Application Silvion silver/silver chloride reference electrodes have, since 1985, been recognised by many as the highest quality silver chloride electrodes available. Constructed using advanced techniques which result in a porous silver matrix around a wire skeleton they provide a significantly higher electrode surface area than traditional electrodes constructed of silver wire which enhances both life and stability. Silvion WE200 reference electrodes are designed specifically for installation in soils. Unlike copper /copper sulphate electrodes, silver/silver chloride electrodes are not affected by the ground chloride content. An enlarged microporous sintered plug allows contact with the electrolyte and ionic conduction. These electrodes can be installed directly in soil provided that a good plug/soil interface can be ensured and maintained. Electrodes should preferably be installed with the sensor plug facing downwards. Availability Three basic models of electrode are available depending upon the life required.
