Debating workshop

Years 4-6 travelled to Inverell last Tuesday, 18th March for a debating

workshop with Tony Davey and his helper Bron from the Premier’s De-

bating Challenge Unit.

The students declared that it was an awesome day!!

They learned the structure of a formal debate as well as receiving hints

about putting forward or rebutting an argument, and effective public

speaking tips. I learned so much as well.

The next step is to hold a debate at Warialda PS where Warialda,

Delungra and Gravesend will compete in a round robin debating

competition.

In the meantime, we will be practising debating skills in the classroom.

RESCUING PATCHES

Patches was a baby kitten. Patches and her family went down to the

dam to get a drink.

In summer a big, big dog came and chased her away.

Then, her family came. Her mother tried to catch the dog but the dog

was too fast.

Then Patches’ dad came. He ran as fast as he could and he caught up.

Patches’ dad jumped and scratched the dog on the face and the dog ran

away.

The lucky kitten went to have a sleep under the tree.

Rescuing Coco

Coco was a baby kitten. Coco and her family loved playing with wool

on cold days. The wool made them all feel warm.

Last Spring, Coco was walking around the farm and the dog started to

chase her.

She was running as fast as she could and the dog was barking so loud

that the farmer came out and put the dog on the chain and lucky

Coco didn’t get eaten.

Coco’s mum had more kittens and Coco was very happy because Coco

could play with them. She was as happy as she had ever been.

Then the chain broke and the dog chased Coco again. Coco ran into

the chook yard. The dog ran into the chook yard. All the chooks flew

out of the chook yard. Coco flew out of the chook yard. The dog flew

out of the chook yard.

Coco quickly climbed a tree and Coco was free, at last!
