APPLICATIONS
The natural beauty of Silestone®, together with it’s unbeatablephysical and technical features, make it the perfect material foruse in a wide range of commercial and domestic applications.
Silestone® is unique
Quartz ranks 7th
in the Mohs hardness scale (diamond is ranked 10th
).
Consequently, while care must be taken when using sharp knives on
other kitchen tops such a granite or melamine, Silestone®is very resistant
to scratching, and no marks will appear.
Silestone® is highly resistant to scratching, but should not be subjected
to extreme rough treatment.
Silestone® is available in more than 50 different colours, which
ensures that there is always a Silestone® colour to blend in with any
style or design. Cosentino continues to increase the Silestone®
colour range year after year.
Silestone® is a non-porous surface that is highly resistant to staining
caused by coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar, makeup and
many other products that are used every day.
Silestone® can be used for any interior surface, including kitchen
and bathroom tops, stairs, panels, bathtubs and bathroom surrounds,
floors, walls, bar rails, tables and desks.
Silestone® has great shock resistance, in most cases considerably
higher than that of other products used for similar applications (granite,
solid surfaces, etc).
This resistance is achieved thanks to its quartz (giving it its hardness)
and polyester resin (elasticity) and the vibrocompression system used
during the production process.
No surface is indestructible so please take care not to place pans
directly from heat onto a worktop.
The elegance and beauty of Silestone® can only be compared to the
most attractive natural stones, such as quartz or diamond.
The natural quartz in Silestone® gives it a touch of distinction, along
with a shine, sparkle and uniqueness that can only be found in certain
natural stone.

The active substances Microban® contain protect the whole
surface. Even areas that are very difficult to reach, such as
corners, are protected.
Since the protection is incorporated into the product during the
production process, it cannot be eliminated, even when the
surface is used constantly. In this way, your Silestone® surface
will remain protected during the whole of its useful life.
When bacteria comes into contact with the surface, the Microban®
active substances suppress it’s growth and development.
Tried and tested efficiency and safety
Silestone® Antibacterial Protection
+Places where food is prepared, such as kitchen worktops, are extremelyprone to the formation of bacteria.
Silestone® worktops now contain Microban® antibacterial protection, which suppresses the growth of potential harmful bacteria such assalmonella, e-coli and listeria, bacteria that can contaminate food.
Although the Silestone® surface must always be thoroughly cleaned,Microban® gives it extra protection between each clean, which ensuresgreater peace of mind.
The antibacterial protection is added during the manufacturing process, meaning it is present in every quartz particle of each Silestone® top.
Silestone® is the first and only surface to have this in-built antibacterialprotection, which together with its excellent physical and mechanicalproperties make it the ideal product for places where a high standardof hygiene is required.
Greater hygiene for greater peace of mind
The Microban® protection is not a substitute for the routinecleaning of the Silestone® surfaces.
