John Wesley Powell was inspired

by the writings of Lewis Henry

Morgan on the Stages of Human

Evolution, realizing that he could

use these evolutionary ideas as a tool

for social reform.

Powell’s, “conviction that every

variant could be placed somewhere

on this evolutionary stairway gave

direction and system to Major

Powell’s work in Ethnology.”

Emerging from this Evolutionary

Stairway would be the

enthronement of Darwinism,

creating a new social vision for

society, as they would begin to view

the origin of man and the origin of

society through the lens of

evolutionary thought, changing how

society has come to view and value

the American Indians, the mound

building cultures, Natural Law,

children, marriage and family.

..Understand this History..

Several years ago while producing the

documentary the “Lost Civilizations of

North America,” I accompanied our

research and production team through

the Ohio and Mississippi River valleys

as we visited the sites of the ancient

mound-building cultures. It was truly

an adventure of discovery for

notwithstanding our prior research, we

were surprised to still find abundant

artifacts, burial mounds, massive

earthwork structures, and artifacts that

give evidence of more highly advanced

civilizations than we have been lead to

believe.

We were asking some of the very

same questions that many have asked,

the WHY, HOW AND WHO

QUESTIONS.

If there were advanced cultures here

in North America;

Why haven’t we heard more

about them?

• Why haven’t they been more

celebrated?

• If the knowledge of these ancient

civilizations were silenced, who

silenced them and why?

American Indian populations have not only

suffered great hardships in the name of Manifest

Destiny and American Expansionism but they have

been robbed of their ancestral history.

Extensive ancient trade

routes were established

between North and

South America.

WHAT WAS TRADED?

Precious metals, mica,

obsidian, tobacco and

slaves, along with art,

shipbuilding engineering

and construction ideas and

navigational stories.

One of the most obscure topics of

America’s ancient native history is the

discussion of America’s Ancient Slave

Trade.

History shows that almost every

giant earthen construction of ancient

times was constructed through the use

of slave labor. From the great

pyramids of Egypt to the giant

coliseums of Rome to the massive

mound and earthen constructions of

North, Central and South America

they all used slave labor.

How common was slavery among

the Indian populations? Historians

believe that the ancient populations of

both North and South America were

heavily involved in the slave trade

business, in one way or another,

either as captives or as slavers. In this

way traditions and religious teachings

were shared on both continents, both

North and South.

America’s Ancient Slave Trade

The United States of America has long been the setting of

sacred and significant events throughout history. Is the

United States of America the “Land of Promise”. What is

known about these ancient civilizations that once inhabited

this continent? Who were these ancient Mound Building

cultures and where did they come from?
