Over 40 people work on creating, developing, making and following the stays. Everyone, according to their background and profi le has a precise mission in SILC with a common goal: the success of your programme.

STRATEGY, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT (SRD)This department is in charge of the programmes preparation and their distribution. People there often work a year ahead in order to be able to anticipate and guarantee quality stays that match the customers’ expectations.

Jean-Luc Maury-Laribière: Chairman.Laetitia: she supervises the whole of the SILC team and watches the cohesion of the SRD department. Because she is in charge of the management of the SILC policy, her determination enables her to complete new projects successfully and to keep an eye on the good development of the programmes.Yannick: she assists Laetitia, and thanks to her editorial and relations skills, she is responsible for the press and public relations. She is also the link with the organisations SILC is affi liated to (OFFICE, WYSE, ALTO, SNAV).Françoise: she has been the one in charge of the quality service for the last 30 years. Her strictness, determination and background give her the ability to complete this mission successfully and perfectly. Thus, she makes sure that all the SILC services comply with the demands of the control organisms (OFFICE, AFNOR, SNAV). Thibaut: his keenness and curiosity are his essential assets to complete his mission of running our websites. He is also in charge of the online communication.Marie-France: she is responsible for the intern and extern communication as she implements and co-ordinates the different communication actions.Emmanuel: this artist to the core and keen on drawing is our graphic designer. He is in charge of the conception of the SILC visual medium, and the illustrator of our newsletters too, with “this month specials” section.Delphine, Caroline, Claire: their main mission is the canvassing and the conception of new programmes for all the SILC activities. They are in close link with our local correspondents; they visit and control the hosting centres in France, update the educational components and recruit the teachers and group leaders.Volodia: is responsible for the foreign customers who want to stay in France for a few days or months! He constantly keeps in touch with our partners, uses his knowledge of the several countries he visited and their specifi cities to propose the service which match the best their expectations.Minerve, Patrick, Fabrice, Dalila: thanks to many years of experience and their background either as a teacher or a group leader, they offer their whole experience and valuable advice to the customers and local correspondents of their areas (Minerve and Dalila: Paris - Patrick: East - Fabrice: West).

LOGISTICS AND TRAVEL DEPARTMENT

This department deals with all the transport and booking logistics making sure each participant gets to their hosting area, either in Paris or anywhere all over the country. They also manage venue bookings during the stay.

Laurent, Florian, Christelle and Fabienne: are all in charge of the logistics; they make sure trips go smoothly: booking and buying tickets on regular transport companies, selecting and coaching group leaders, producing trip vouchers, they are on call on all the departure and arrival days… In short terms, they have to anticipate and be reactive at every moment.

CUSTOMERS’ ATTENDANCE DEPARTMENTIt deals with the monitoring of the stays. The people who work in this department are constantly in touch with the group leaders, French and foreign partners and the participants’ families during the stay.

Marie-Laure: thanks to her sense of responsibility, she perfectly controls the co-ordination of this key division and supervises all the missions.Chrystelle: is in charge more specifi cally of the individual stays department. Her adaptation and organisation skills enable her to monitor the daily life within the department while anticipating the management of the stays.Virginie, Laëtitia, Carole, Murielle, Nadine and Gaëlle: all have 2 essential missions: attending customers on the phone and monitoring students. Beside their relations skills, they must show organisation in their daily work. They give advice, help and reassure the parents during each step of the stay. They represent the main link during the stay between the parents, the local correspondent, the group leader and the partner.Régine: she is in charge of the Groups department organisation, supervising her team on a daily basis. Thanks to her great experience at SILC and her listening ability, she represents the essential link between the customers and the partners.Sandrine, Brigitte, Sylvie, Emeline and Estelle: they are all in touch with the customers and local correspondents and pay particular attention to the specifi c requirements of the groups. They make sure the stay and all the details go smoothly thanks to a perfect organisation.Martine: she co-ordinates teachers and group leaders and is responsible for their training. Thanks to an excellent background, she makes sure that teachers and leaders get the best position according to their profi les and the different types of stays.

PARIS

Tours, home of the previous Kings of France, is a captivating city which has managed to preserve a rich heritage while looking ahead to the future. Located at the centre of the Loire Valley, renowned for its sumptuous chateaux, it is a modern and dynamic city hosting an international university, a great shopping area and a centre for biological science and technology. The region is also the birthplace of famous men of letters such as Rabelais, Ronsard, Descartes, Vigny, Balzac and Courteline.

TOURS

Montpellier is a sun-blessed city with 300 days of sun per year. Originally renowned in Europe for its Faculty

of Medicine established in 1220 and today one of the world’s most important research centre in biomedicine, this historical university city counts no less than 60,000 students coming from all over the world. Montpellier is dynamic and offers a vibrant cultural life as well as the great Mediterranean quality of life!

MONTPELLIER

Also known as the town of lovers, Antibes is a beach resort, located on the famous French Riviera in the South-East of France. This picturesque region boasts historic and artistic places and many faces have made it one of the most visited regions in Europe. Its diversity is undoubtedly its greatest asset. Historical and religious sites, museums, galleries, theatres, parks, gardens and chateaux are all part of a thriving cultural scene. Antibes has the largest yatching harbour in Europe and it is a town where sports are also very important.

ANTIBES

Biarritz is an attractive cosmopolitan resort on the Atlantic Coast. Internationally renowned for its sandy beaches and incredible waves, it is one of the best surfers meeting points in the world. The town has much to offer with its numerous boutiques, surfers shops, cafés, restaurants and a genuine southern atmosphere that makes Biarritz a true rival of the French Riviera!

BIARRITZ

Second largest and most fi lmed city in France, Marseille is also known as one of, not to say the oldest city in the country. Founded by Greek sailors from Phocaea in Asia, its current population and architecture refl ects 2,600 years of history and arts. Marseille is a cosmopolitan city, open to the world which offers a large ethnic mix. It is also an easy to access and easy to live city with good public transportation. Its surroundings are made with beautiful crystal water rocky inlets, garrigue landscapes and picturesque villages, ports and towns.

MARSEILLE

Located in the South-West of France, at only 2h30 from Paris by TGV and 1h from Bordeaux, Angoulême is a dynamic old renaissance town built on top of a rock.It offers a diversity of cultural events and festivals all year round including the famous International Comics Festival.

ANGOULEME

Famous for its Petit Beurre biscuits and Jules Verne, Nantes is a dynamic city located in the north of the Loire

Valley, on the Atlantic Coast. The 6th largest city of France is also a green metropole with cultural and gastronomic assets

that offer its inhabitants and visitors a real quality of life.Located 50 kms away from Nantes, St Brevin-les-Pins is a charming

classifi ed seaside resort located on the Atlantic Coast, 50 kms away from Nantes. Surrounded by pine trees (hence the name of the town), it is nestled

NANTES

Since 2007, Bordeaux has become a UNESCO world heritage site. This beautiful city is a true 18th century architectural treasure which combines quality of life and cultural heritage right in the heart of a world famous wine region. This university town enjoys the privileged position of being in close proximity to the Atlantic Coast, the Périgord, the vast pine forest of the Landes and the vineyards of the Médoc. SILC team takes care of every aspect of your stay so that your language experience can be effective and successful.

ACCOMMODATION

Homestay: allows you to live in a family environment and put into practice your language skills outside the classroom. It is also a very good way to understand French customs, discover maybe another lifestyle, enjoy new encounters, experience different foods, habits…fi nally open yourself to the world and its opportunities. Depending on the programme you choose you will benefi t from a single or shared bedroom (with another student of a different nationality or a child of the family), private or shared bathroom, bed and breakfast only, half-board or full-board. SILC host families are carefully selected and vetted on a regular basis.

Residences, youth hostels and apartments: for those who are more independent and prefer life in community, SILC has carefully selected hosting facilities ranging from fully equipped campuses for juniors, to student residences, and apartment rooms to be shared with other students of different nationalities. They all meet strict standard requirements and facilities and grades depend on the selected type and budget.

Hotels: SILC can also arrange hotel accommodation, upon your needs and on request.

SILC offers a wide range of courses to improve your general knowledge of every aspect of the French language: listening, communication, written and oral expression. A variety of formulas more or less intensive are available, depending on your age, availability and goals. Leisure activities are the key to enjoying your stay, understanding the culture and moreover practising the language. Junior and 50+ programmes include a set of cultural activities which are generally prepared during the classes, while Adult programmes offer it as an option. Some programmes put a special focus on sports and adventure (French in Biarritz, French + Multiactivities in Marseille, Sports + French in Angoulême, Football in Nantes), or on a special topic like culture or gastronomy (Discover Paris, Cook, Draw, Play in Angoulême for Juniors and Highlights of the South-West for 50+). Weekly excursions are key options to discovering the area and are offered on most programmes (included or to be booked at the school).

LEISURE

We take into consideration the cultural gap you might be confronted by while being in another country with different references. Therefore SILC has put a great focus on the assistance and support to be given to the students. At school, you’ll benefi t from the assessment of the co-ordinator of studies and can count on the availability of a SILC representative, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Juniors benefi t from the extra attention they need with a friendly team of qualifi ed and experienced teachers and instructors, who facilitate their integration and take care of them in case they feel homesick.Supervision ratio is as follows : 1 teacher per every 15 students maximum during tuition and 1 adult per every 12 students maximum during activities.

REGISTRATIONEnrolments must be received by the SILC offi ce in Angoulême at least 4 weeks before the start of the programme, and at least 8 weeks for the non EU members -for visa purposes- (by mail, fax or e-mail).Requests received after these dates can only be accepted on a space available basis. Participants, their parents or legal guardians should give detailed information about their health, special diets, allergies, etc at the time of application. Registration can only be processed if accompanied by a deposit (see § 3).For students under 18, a parental authorisation will be required at the time of enrolment.

2. PRICESFor all SILC programmes, prices are indicated on the enclosed pricelist. For tailor-made programmes, please contact us for a quote.

PAYMENT CONDITIONS PAYMENT - For bookings received more than 28 days in advance, a non-refundable service fee + a deposit of €300 amount is required at the time of booking (€150 for internship, academic programmes, high school or family programmes ; €75 for 50+ programmes and International Language Schools ; €95 for other programmes), 70% of the total amount 15 days after the date of invoicing. 5. CONFIRMATIONUpon receipt of the completed enrolment form and deposit, the participant or the agent will receive confi rmation indicating the remaining balance.SILC Voyages will communicate all the necessary information before departure, providing that full payment has been received.

High School Academic and Institut Catholique University Programmes - fi nal acceptance to the programme: the High School Academic or Institut Catholique University reserve the right to be the fi nal judge of whether a student will be accepted on the programme.

INSURANCEMedical insurance is compulsory for non-E.U citizens.All participants enrolled on SILC Voyages programme will be asked to prove they have subscribed to a full personal medical insurance policy and public liability insurance.Participants are not insured by SILC Voyages for theft or loss of personal belongings.In conformity with French Law, SILC Voyages has a full Public Liability Insurance. This insurance included in our tarifs covers: Individual Accident, Medical Assistance and Repatriation. It does not cover the participant’s public liability. Details of the policy can be addressed to all participants upon request.

7. VISANo visa required for citizens of the non-enlarged E.U. New members of the E.U. should contact the French Embassy or Consulate in their country to check details.Non E.U. members should contact the French Embassy or Consulate in their country to check the details regarding entry permits. 8. CANCELLATIONa) By SILC VoyagesSILC Voyages reserves the right to cancel a stay because of an insuffi cient number of participants. In this case, SILC Voyages will offer a similar programme or offer total refund of the sums already paid.b) By the Agent/the participantDuring the stay : in the case of an anticipated return, extra costs will be borne by the participant, the natural parents or legal guardians. No refund of programme fees will be made.Before the stay : cancellation fees are as follows- 30 days before start date : 10% of the invoice + the

non-refundable deposit + the service fee.- between 30 and 11 days before start date : 50% of the

ABSENCE OR PROGRAMME CURTAILMENTRegistering for a programme means that the participant commits himself/herself to attend all classes and/or activities and excursions as per programme content.SILC Voyages will not give any refund if the participant misses classes or decides to curtail his/her programme (this excludes absence for proven medical cause on presentation of a medical certifi cate for International Language School only).The agent or the participant cannot claim any refund if the latter decides to curtail the programme.

10. DISCIPLINE & ANTICIPATED RETURNSILC Voyages reserves the right to expel or to send a participant home for unacceptable behaviour (i.e. theft or alcohol abuse, or incorrect conduct with the family…). If the participant is under 18 years of age the natural parents or legal guardians will be informed. Extra costs will be borne by the participant, the natural parents or legal guardians.In the case of an anticipated return for personal or discipline reasons no refund of programme fees will be made. By signing the enrolment form or any other written form of registration, the participant and/or his/her natural parents or legal guardians accept SILC Voyages terms and conditions.

Evening outings :Participants under 18 years old are not allowed to go out in the evening without being accompanied by an adult.Participants of 18 years old and over are allowed to go out in the evening. However they must respect the host family rules and customs and should behave accordingly.

11. OBLIGATIONS OF THE PARTICIPANTHE The participant shall be responsible for choosing the programme that corresponds to his or her abilities.The participant must attend all classes and/or activities of the programme he/she has chosen, and be punctual. International Language School Programmes: if a student is more than 15 minutes late to his lesson, he/she will need to wait for the break to enter the classroom.Should irregular attendance or other behaviour of the participant leads to a disturbance of the course and/or activities for other participants, SILC Voyages reserves the right to expel the participant from the programme. In such an event the programme monies paid shall not be refunded in any way, not even on a pro-rata basis.

12. HOST FAMILY PLACEMENTSOur host families refl ect the variety of social, race and religious backgrounds that can be found in today’s French society. Host families can be made of a single parent with or without children, active retired people, couples with or without children, etc. Our choice of host families is based on their ability and motivation to provide the care and safety a student needs while staying in France and their willingness to share their culture with the participant. SILC Voyages will not accept cancellation of a programme based on social, racial and religious dislikes of the participant and/or his/her natural parents or legal guardian.

13. INTERNSHIP PROGRAMMEIf under exceptional circumstances, SILC Voyages is not able to fi nd a placement, SILC Voyages will refund the registration fees. If after a minimum of 2 weeks with a company, there are good reasons (from the company or from the participant) why the placement is genuinely unsuitable (confi rmed by letter), SILC Voyages will fi nd an alternative placement as soon as possible in another company.

14. NATIONAL HOLIDAYSThere are no lessons on French national holidays, the lessons are neither replaced nor refunded.

15. COURSE CHANGESHigh School, University and International Language Schools are responsible for organising the courses. SILC cannot be held responsible for any changes that may occur.

16. PERSONAL PROPERTIESEach participant is liable for his/her personal property, unless loss or damage is proven to be due to SILC Voyages’ negligence. If anything is missing when the participant leaves the centre/school/university/host family, the participant should let the Director of the centre/school/university or SILC Voyages know about it immediately. Expensive and treasured items such as jewellery, CD players, mp3s, personal video games, mobile phones, cameras, designer clothes/shoes/trainers…should not be brought to camp/centre/school/host family as they are often inappropriate on an activity holiday.All personal property left in the centre or host family after departure will be sent back at the participant’s own expense.

17. USE OF PHOTOGRAPHSPhotos of participants taken during their SILC programmes in France may be used for any SILC publication (brochures, website…). Should participants refuse, they must inform SILC Voyages in writing within the time of their registration.

18. CLAIMSClaims must be addressed to the Direction of SILC Voyages and must be made by registered letter to:SILC Voyages – 35 Rue du Sauvage16000 ANGOULEME Cedex - FRANCEwithin 30 days following the end of the participant programme.Legal claims will be dealt with by the «Tribunal d’Angoulême».

All bookings are subject to the following terms and conditions. All participants to a SILC Voyages programme, whether registering through a partner agency or directly, should agree to the following terms and conditions.
