Get help paying for health insurance Your premium is the amount you pay each month to have health insurance. There are two ways you may be able to get help paying for your premium.

Financial help Many people can get tax credits to help pay premiums. You may also qualify for a zero-cost- sharing plan, which means you do not have to pay out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles, co-payments, and co-insurance.

If you earn less than the maximum yearly income shown below, you might qualify for tax credits.

Benefits for American Indians and Alaska NativesMembers of federally recognized tribes of Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Corporation stakeholders may qualify for the following benefits:

• No penalty: Under the federal law, most people have to pay a fee if they do not have health insurance. You do not have to pay the fee if you are American Indian or Alaska Native, or if you are eligible for services through the Indian Health Service, tribal programs or Urban Indian program.

• No changes in care: If you sign up for a plan at HealthCare.gov, you can continue to get care from your tribal or Urban Indian clinic or from other providers, specialists, clinics, and hospitals.

• No payments for services: You may not have to pay for services at a tribal or Urban Indian clinic. Call your clinic to get information specific to you and your family.

• No deadline: Sign up for health insurance or change plans at any time.
