Schedule Changes*Teachers are assigned classes to teach based on the number of students who request the course. Therefore, schedule changes must be limited based on the following conditions:● A class you requested was cancelled.● You forgot to sign up for a graduation requirement.● You completed a class you requested in summer school.● You have an imbalance of too many study halls one semester, and too

many classes the other semester. (This can only be done on a space available basis).

● You want to add a class in place of a study hall and the class is offered at the same time.

● You have been accepted into a specific program that requires a schedule change. (IEP, ESL, CCP, Career Center)

● You forgot to check the prerequisite for the course and you do not meet the requirements to take the class.

● You took a class and failed it and are scheduled into the same class with the same teacher.

● You chose a class you already have received credit in.33

Page 34: Sign up for important reminders · 2017-01-27 · Grade Point Average (GPA) 7 Term GPA-Average of grade points taken that term only. (Report card GPA) Cumulative GPA-overall GPA for

Due to space, availability and class size balances, counselors will NOT be able to make schedule changes due to:

● You changed your mind about the class for any variety of reasons including:● It’s not what you thought it would be. (Read the course

guide, talk to other students, parents and teachers prior to choosing a class.)

● You don’t know anyone in the class. (High school is a great time to make new friends.)

● The teacher is too strict or too hard. (You will learn about all kinds of people from experiencing all types of personalities and teaching styles.)

● The class requires too much work. (The work required will help you learn the required objectives of the class.)

34

Page 35: Sign up for important reminders · 2017-01-27 · Grade Point Average (GPA) 7 Term GPA-Average of grade points taken that term only. (Report card GPA) Cumulative GPA-overall GPA for

Schedules cannot be changed because…...

● You don’t like the time of your lunch period:○ You don’t have a friend in lunch. ○ Your lunch is too early for your or too late.○ You play sports.

● You want to leave school early :○ You need an afternoon nap or snack before your sports

practice.○ You have to go to work. ○ Your ride leaves school early.○ You need to babysit your younger siblings.
