LIFE CHAIN Sunday, October 1st,
After the 12 Noon Mass Today in Canada one in four pregnancies ends in abortion, at taxpayer expense. Our Catholic faith teaches that abortion is the putting to death of an innocent human being. What can we do? We can continue to work unceasingly for our preborn
babies, until their protection is a reality in our country. On Sunday October 1st after the 12 Noon Mass - Respect Life Sunday, join with thousands of people across North America for the Life Chain. Bring your friends and family out to stand in prayer and silent witness on behalf of the millions of babies who have lost their lives to abortion - let's pray for the them, for their moms, for the doctors and for our nation that we will end this atrocity. Pick up a sign and line up with us on the West side of Chinguacousy Rd, by St. Jerome's Church. Let's build a human chain that extends from Queen, to Steeles. Fellowship and refreshments to follow.
All are welcome! Please join us!
FIRST COMMANDMENT
God Comes First The first principle of the covenant is simple to state but subtle in practice: God comes first. God comes first in our decisions and choices, in our emotions, in our attitudes, in our prayer, in our relationships. It means that for us nothing is to rank with God (Ex. 20:23). How can we cooperate with the Spirit’s action to fulfil this principle in our hearts? IN OUR CHOICES: When choosing an action, we figure time, money, the effects the decision will have, our family, our feelings. But do we ask what God might say? Do we seek God’s guidance? Are we willing to do what God wants us to do? We may not know specifically what God wants us to choose, be we do know what values God wants us to live by: love, kindness, honesty and respect for God’s gifts. Recall a recent decision. Was God first in your process of choice? Or last? IN OUR ATTITUDES AND EMOTIONS: When we are blazingly excited, is God in it? When we are downhearted, is God there? Do we turn to God in all our moods? Are we humble before God even in our cherished attitudes about life and people? IN OUR PRAYERS: Is God actually our true focus? Or do we focus on what we hope to get from God? Do we pray because we love God or because we want something? IN OUR RELATIONSHIPS: Do we respond to other people as if God were a permanently present third party? God is. Are we aware of God in every conversation, every interaction with another? Let us offer God each decision as we make it, each attitude and emotion as we feel it, each prayer as we begin it, every aspect of every relationship as we participate in it. A silent “Lord, this is for you” is sufficient, if we mean it. If we do this, our relationship with God will transformed. We will know who close God always is, and ho magnificent. This week, allow God to be first by offering every interior experience to God.
