Mission Statement
To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth;
To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and
resources;
To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful
means to carry out these objectives.
History
Started in California Founded by May 28th 1892 with 182 members 1st president: John Muir Surpassed 1000 members in 1908

Acheivments

Support or oppose legislature
2007 - Club encourages Congress to pass a Renewable Energy Standard that requires utilities to produce 15% of their power from clean, renewable energy by 2020.
2008 - Club continued its string of successes, stopping construction of 68 new coal fired power plants
Helped pass Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.
