It’s December; is it too late formy child to get the flu vaccine?

It’s not too late. The flu, alsocalled influenza, is a viral infection in the nose, throat and lungs. Flu season typically occurs be-tween the months of October and March. Allchildren are susceptible and have the highestrates of infection. Most people know that chil-dren with chronic diseases such as asthma anddiabetes can suffer complications such as pneu-monia or even death; however, all children are

susceptible tothese adverse ef-fects. The vaccineis recommendedfor all childrenstarting at age 6months. Children8 and undershould receive 2doses of the vac-cine, given onemonth apart, thefirst year they areimmunized. Forhealthy childrenage 2 and up, thereis a nasal form ofthe vaccine avail-

able that is just as effective as the shot. Childrenwill not get the flu from the vaccine and it maysave their lives. But, since there are various fluviruses, it is possible to get the flu after vaccina-tion. However, flu symptoms would be milderthan if your child did not get vaccinated. So, ifyour child has not yet been immunized againstthe flu, call your pediatrician today and make anappointment to do so.

Regular church attendance wasn’tpart of River Pointe Church’ssenior pastor, Patrick Kelley’s,upbringing. When he did go to

church, he never liked it very much. Yearslater, God called him into the ministrywith a vision to create a church for thekind of person he had been – someonewho didn’t like long services and verbosesermons.

At River Pointe Church Missouri City, from start to finish, service lasts one hourand twenty minutes. During footballseason, you can sleep late and still beback home in time for kick-off. TheSunday sermon is not a traditional highchurch lecture. It is a conversational talk

that combines humor and inspirationallessons that are relevant to today’sculture. Pastor Kelley says, “You won’tget yelled at here. You will learn aboutGod’s love for you. We don’t like rules atRiver Pointe Church. We likerelationships.”

The main campus of River PointeChurch was established 16 years ago inRichmond, Texas. The second campus, celebrating its one year anniversary, meetson Sunday’s at Elkins High School inMissouri City. Soon, the search for landto build a permanent facility in the SiennaPlantation area will begin. “We’re here tostay,” Pastor Kelley says. “SiennaPlantation and the rest of Missouri City

are diverse communities that need adiverse, multi-cultural church.”

With whatever demographic youassociate yourself, you will fit in and bereflected in the congregation of RiverPointe Church. The church is made upof people from different backgrounds, cultures, races, ethnicities, ages, maritalstatuses and family configurations.

River Pointe Church Missouri City iswell established, not a “start-up.” It hassound financial support and excellentprograms for children, teens, men andwomen. Top quality rockin’-style music addsto the fun, relaxed, casual atmosphere. Andfor those living in Sienna Plantation, thelocation is very close to home.
