Integration in Process Control 3
Integration in Process Control
SIMATIC WinCC/PCS 7 TeleControl system architecture
Integration of the telecontrol technology in TIA has madeit possible to combine the automation of central plants andthe monitoring of distributed units in a single process controlsystem.
Homogenous operator control and monitoring using acommon control station, uniform configuration with the sameengineering system, and consistent utilization of hardwarecomponents from the TIA product portfolio result in significantsavings with regard to investments, operation and service.
Remote terminal units
The remote control units supported by SIMATIC have aperformance, classified as small, medium or large (see tableon page 5).
In addition, the SIMATIC S7-300 F and S7-400 F controllers canbe used to implement safety-related applications on site andautomatically set the plant to a safe status in the event of adangerous fault. And with SIMATIC S7-400FH fault tolerantand safety-related RTU applications can be realized.
And when talking about safety Siemens fulfills the interna-tional standards like IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISA S84 and isSIL 3 TV certified.
The globally field proven Telecontrol Interface Modules (TIM)from SIMATIC handle the data exchange between remotesystems and master system and offer a wide range of com-fortable telecontrol functions like subscriber monitoring, redundancy of transmission paths, cross communication,or remote engineering in parallel to the normal data
communication, all these independent from the usednetwork types.
SIPLUS RIC (Remote Interface Control) is a telecontrol systemthat operates with the SIMATIC S7 automation system usinginternationally standardised communications protocols for:

Network topologies, SIPLUS extreme6
Network topologies, SIPLUS extreme
Basic topologies
Differently structured telecontrol networks can be imple-mented in the wide area network (WAN) based on thefollowing four basic topologies.
Media versions
Depending on the support provided by the selected tele-control protocol, various transmission media are availablefor these basic topologies, e.g. dedicated line, private wirelessnetworks, mobile radio networks, dial-up networks (wireless/landline), DSL over Internet.
Combinations of basic topologies and media versions
Through a combination of several basic topologies of the sameor different media versions, it is additionally possible to designmore complex network topologies, even with redundant com-munication paths. This allows adaptation to the respective localconditions and to the existing infrastructure.
NoteSuitable protective measures (among others IT Security,e.g. network segmentation) have to be taken up to ensure
a safe operation of the plant. You find further informationabout the topic of Industrial Security on the Internet underwww.siemens.com/industrialsecurity

Telecontrol protocols12
Telecontrol protocols
General/elementary telecontrol functions
Telecontrol systems use special protocols to implement datatransmission between the control center and the outstations(RTUs) at the process level for the automation functions onsite. These telecontrol protocols manage the secure and errorfree data transmission over the WAN even with a low band-width and poor transmission quality. In addition to shorttransmission times for the information, this task requireseffective protection of the frames against:
Undetected bit errors Undetected frame errors resulting from
synchronization errors
Undetected loss of information Frame falsification Segregation or fault in related information
This particularly applies to event-controlled frames over trans-mission channels with a limited bandwidth and uncertainnoise response. Since irregular bit sequences are compiled fordata transmission, no limitation in codes must exist.
Time stamp
When linking RTUs by means of SINAUT ST7, DNP3,IEC 60870-5-101 or IEC 60870-5-104 telecontrol protocol,
the raw data in the outstations is provided with a time stampand transmitted to the SIMATIC WinCC/PCS 7 TeleControl OS(server/single station) acting as control center. Adaptation, further processing, and archiving are carried out here. Thisprocedure is appropriate for the event-based principle ofoperation of the telecontrol protocol as well as the sub-sequent chronological processing of data previouslybuffered in the outstation.
Clock synchronization
The WinCC/PCS 7 TeleControl OS are the clock mastersfor the RTUs connected by means of SINAUT ST7, DNP3,
IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-103 or IEC 60870-5-104, andregularly synchronizes their date and time via the telecontrolconnection. Switching over between summertime and winter-time is also considered during the synchronization.
Failsafe
For safety applications Siemens has a full range of safetyproducts. Siemens also offers Safety consultancy servicesand Safety trainings based on the products and standards. The trainings based on the standards IEC 61508/11 are incooperation with TV.
Data buffering
The SINAUT ST7, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104telecontrol protocols support reliable on-site intermediatebuffering of the data including time tag, e.g. if a communica-tion path is faulty or a station has failed. In addition, inter-
mediate buffering of data can also be an effective meansfor reducing connection costs in the dial-up network. A dataupdate for all participating communication partners is per-formed automatically following debugging or restarting of thefailed station. Important events are not lost, and the integrityof the control center archive is assured.
American Gas Association (AGA)
The AGA library for calculation of the flow of natural gas isbased on API 21 and contains function blocks and faceplatesand is certified for non custody transfer.
Industry Library (IL)
The Industry Library provides an efficient support for graphi-cal engineering with SIMATIC PCS 7 connected RTUs viaSINAUT ST7. More than 100 tested blocks, including industry-specific faceplates for pumps, valves, controls etc minimizesthe commissioning and training overheads in different indus-tries.

Integration of switchgear automation14
Integration of switchgear automation
Automation levels in power supply and distribution
Besides typical RTUs in field automation, also substation auto-mation can be integrated in SIMATIC PCS 7. Historically, sys-tems for automating a process and systems for automatingthe power supply to this process were always strictly segre-gated. With SIMATIC PCS 7 PowerControl, it is now possible tocombine process automation and the automation of electricalswitchgears for medium voltages ranging from 4 to 30 kV inone control system. This results in a host of benefits that pro-vide huge cost savings over the entire life cycle of the plant, bymeans, for example, of:
Simpler plant structures with more transparency in thetechnological dependencies
Further increase in the level of integration of the plant Uniform process control and further expansion of the
operator's task area Long-term investment security thanks to globally valid
standard IEC 61850 Rational, integrated engineering and fast commissioning Lower administration, service and training costs thanks to
uniform holistic view Effective energy management (load management, con-
sumption optimization)
These are gaining even more in importance given the increas-ing decentralization resulting from greater use of renewableenergies. One example of this is provided by wind farms.
An electrical switchgear distributes or transforms electricalenergy, bundling loads/consumers into load groups. With thehelp of switching devices, network nodes implemented asbusbars connect incoming and outgoing cables known asfeeders. When the substation is dimensioned, account is takenof changes to the network topology in the event of faults, andthe isolation and grounding of equipment for maintenancework.
Integration of intelligent electronic devices intoSIMATIC PCS 7
Electronic devices (IEDs) such as SIPROTEC protective devicesor interoperable third-party devices are used for automatingswitchgears, that is, for protection, control, measuring andmonitoring functions in electrical energy transmission anddistribution. IEDs can be integrated into the SIMATIC PCS 7process control system via Ethernet TCP/IP communicationwith the IEC 61850 transmission protocol for protection andcontrol technology in electrical switchgears.
