Reset Assembly

Follow these steps to install the reset.

1. With the cover on the enclosure closed, reset button removed, quarter turns latched and the starter installed measure the Xdimension. (From the top of the enclosure cover to the top of the overload reset button. Make sure the reset on the overloadhas been pushed in before measuring.)

2. For the 49EC****241108R and 49EC****242008R enclosures, cut the reset rod to the calculated length, (L) = measuredlength (X) plus 0.375 (inches) per Figure 1. Use calculations per Figure 2 for 49EC****362412R enclosure.

3. Reinstall the push button through the hole in the cover and thread the plastic nut on the push button from the inside of thecover. Use assembly tool 3SX1707 to secure.

4. Press the reset rod firmly into the push button from the inside of the cover.

When installing a reset button in a Nema 12 enclosure, follow the previous steps with the following exceptions.

1. Install the gasket and push button cover provided.

2. The button cover is placed over the push button and the gasket is placed between the cover and plastic nut. Make sure thebutton cover has fully engaged the underside of the push button before installing in the cover.

3. As before, tighten the plastic nut using tool 3SX1707. DO NOT over tighten. Reset assembly needs only be snug. If thegasket has extruded from between the cover and the plastic nut, it is too tight. Loosen the assembly and repeat. If theassembly is too tight or too loose, leakage may occur.

Torque Requirements

To insure that a screw or bolt is tight and remains tight, a certain amount of tension must be developed in the joint. An indirect measure of this tension is the amount of torque or force applied to a wrench in tightening a joint. To achieve a specific torque, one can use a torque wrench or other tool such as air wrench which has been calibrated. It can be calibrated to stop by itself or it may have a clutch which slips when the specific torque has been reached. A torque wrench is a tool which indicates the torque being applied at any instance.

All screws intended for mechanical connection (such as mounting of components) shall use the torque values that are recommended per the instruction sheet. If no instruction sheet is supplied, or the torque value is not stated, then follow tables below.
