    PROGRAMME INFORMATION

The new SIT Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (SIE) programme synthesises the essence of several fundamental

engineering disciplines for a multi-disciplinary degree. You will go through vigorous academic training and be given the

chance to immerse yourselves in the land transport industry through work stints with established organisations such as LTA,

SMRT, SBS Transit, Singapore Technologies, Keppel Group and Sembcorp Industries.

The SIE programme aims to groom you to be both practice-oriented and industry-ready. Throughout the course of

the programme, you will be given the opportunity to take modules such as Total Preventive Maintenance and Railway

Engineering, which are exclusive to this programme. In addition, our unique curriculum allows you to attain professional

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certification for inspection methods well-sought after by industry.

WHAT YOU WILL BE TAUGHTTo be awarded the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering, you are required to complete

6 trimesters of study and a minimum of 2 trimesters of Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP).

To be awarded the Master of Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Sustainable Infrastructure

Engineering, you are required to complete 8 trimesters of study and a minimum of 2 trimesters of Integrated Work Study

    Programme (IWSP).

The normal candidature of completing both programmes is 4 years and 8 months. However, if you do not take the two

optional breaks (Year 2 and Year 4 Trimesters 3), it is possible to complete both programmes in 4 years as in the table below.

    PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

    Railway Engineering

Introduction to railway signalling and communication principles including multiple-aspect signalling, signalling interlocking

systems, train detection, transmission networks, telecommunication systems, train operation control centres, and station signal

control panels. Rolling Stock & Permanent Way Systems and Safety Standards/Legislation/Best Practices are also covered.

    Total Preventive Maintenance

Introduction to total preventive maintenance (TPM) concepts and techniques including preventive maintenance, autonomous

maintenance, maintainability improvement, maintenance prevention, and P-M analysis; TPM relates to other technical

maintenance disciplines like reliability centred maintenance (RCM), instruments protective function (IPF) and risk based

    inspections (RBI).

    INTEGRATED WORKSTUDY PROGRAMME (IWSP)

IWSP held over the span of 8 to 12 months, provides you with

the opportunity to gain industry experience, integrate theory

with practice, and develop deep specialist skills in your chosen field.

You will also be invo lved in day-to- day operations and confront

challenges just like an employee of the host organisation.

    REGIONAL IMMERSION INSUSTAINABLE ENGINEERING (RISE)

RISE will create opportunities for you to visit key infrastructure facilities and projects in the region. You will gain first-handexperience in communicating with engineers/designers/operators who are working on various phases of a project, such

as in, design and construction. The meticulous maintenance schedule that can eliminate any incipient breakdown of the

systems will also be explored. RISE is an eye-opening programme that will enrich your learning experience.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students with relevant engineering background, i.e., Diploma in Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Elec trical Engineering,

may apply for exemption of modules up to a maximum of two trimesters.

For students with non-relevant engineering background, i.e., Diploma from other engineering disciplines; exemption of

modules will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
