MIX1 is one of three startups he currently operates. One is a Digital Media Technology & Innovation firm and, the other being a Digital Media & Music Marketing company. In 1988 he was piv-otal in the engineering and formatics of the world’s first commercial Hip-Hop radio format at WYLD in New Orleans, LA helping to el-evate the careers of Hip Hop’s pioneering music luminaries.

Darris, having a formal background in Computer Science, has worked as a Digital Media SME and quality engineer at Microsoft where he pioneered Dolby Digital audio and streaming media integration, UI design and usability in all Microsoft OTT consumer products. He’s also pioneered a cutting edge rights managed content distribution system utilizing P2P protocols which was cited for its merits in U.S. Supreme Court case MGM vs. Grokster in 2005, of which was sold to Chris Lighty and became the core technology of Brand Asset Digital (currently owned by Warner Music Group).
