COSTUMES OF THE VAL DI NOTO

These costumes represent the Val di Noto, one of the three Valleys in which the Arabs divided Sicily in IX century A.D. The Minarda family invented them about 60 years ago. They were worn by men and women ( i ballerini) who danced « ‘u ballittu» during Carnival days, usually celebrated in February, before Lent.
