As the world reacts to the COVID-19 pandemic,

organizations are looking to HR for guidance

It’s vitally important to understand the fullest possible picture of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic

because while some businesses are highly insulated from impacts, most organizations expect moderate

losses, and in some industries the impacts could be catastrophic.

For many organizations these impacts will be measurable, for others it will come in the form of a lack of

customers or lack of demand for products, and for others still it may be vendors and partners who find

themselves unable to fulfill obligations.

This data is a first step in gaining that full understanding, giving us insight into the precarious state of

American workers, the robust reaction of the HR community to support their organizations, and the pressure

on small businesses.

Upcoming Challenges for Businesses

Besides facing expected losses of revenue and business hardships with conducting work remotely, there are further challenges to come in the impact of COVID-19 on businesses

- Even organizations whose processes can be conducted remotely may see negative impacts on productivity

- Organizations staying open throughout will need to continue to support rigorous cleaning and hygiene practices to keep worksites safe

- Organizations will need to continue to update employees, customers, and shareholders on shifting policies and practices

- After the crisis ends, organizations will need to establish new norms, taking into account impacts of Coronavirus on workplace practices like paid leave and remote work
