A microphone, sometimes colloquially called amicor mike, is an acoustic-to-electric transduceror sensor that converts sound into an electrical
signal. Microphones are used in many applications such
as telephones, tape recorders, hearing aids,motion picture production, live and recorded audioengineering, in radio and television broadcasting
and in computers for recording voice, VOIP(voiceover internet protocol), and for non-acousticpurposes such as ultrasonic checking.

These scanners are capable of recognizinga type of mark made by pencil or pen.
The actual technique used by an OMRdevice for recognition of marks involvesfocusing a light on the page being
scanned and detecting the reflected lightpattern from the marks.
