Annual Reports 2018-19

It’s my great pleasure to present the annual report of the department of physical education and

Sports on behalf of our college. For last several years we have been forming the Sports Council

for smooth working. The Sports Council was constituted under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble

Principal Dr. P.S. Changole. The other members of the council were Mr. N. V. Chopde, Dr. V.Y

Waghale, Dr. P. P. Sonone, Dr. P. D. Hadke, Dr. R. N. Gosavi, Dr. Parag Joshi, Mr. S. S.

Gaherwar, Dr. D. N. Khadse, Mr. R. S. Motghare, Mrs. J.S.Dhawad, Mr. S.M. Shambarkar, Mr. J

.V. Jichkar, Mr. K. S. Lend, Mr. V. T. Choure, Dr. S. S. Dadhe & Dr. V.M. Ingale. The meetings

were held on September 1, 2018 to discuss various matters related to the Sports activities during

the academic session 2018-19 for smooth functioning.

Infrastructure & Sports Facilities in the College:

Under Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Sports Academy we provide following sports facilities :

Indoor Sports Activities :-

Badminton Hall- 4 wooden court Modern well equipped Gym

a. Badminton Academy was opened for the

benefit of students which runs the coaching

on regular basis. More than 250 students

outside the college get benefit of our

coaching center along with students,

Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, CAs and other

professionals.

b. Modern Fitness Centre: For college

students & Sport Persons, college renovated

the gymnasium and Modern Fitness Centre.

In this Centre new advance fitness equipment

like motorize trade mill, electronic cycle,

massager & other fitness equipment are

available. Monthly more than 300 trainees

are beneficiaries.

c. Table tennis: From last year college started

regular coaching for students and players.

The center is run with the help of Nagpur

District Table tennis Association.

d. Chess: Coaching on regular for students and

players began working in association with

Nagpur District Chess Association to

organize various level tournaments

e. Softball Coaching has been in force on

college ground for last twelve years. About

70 students from various schools and

colleges undergo the training daily. Many

players participated in state, National &

International Tournaments. Mr. Chetan

Mahadik, Mr. Piyush Ambulkar, Ms. Puja Bharti,

Ms. Shruti Khawashe, Ms Ashvini Thawkar,

Ms.Samrudhi Peshane, Ms. Urvshi Saneshwar

represented Indian team.

f. Cricket ground with Turf Wicket : Well

maintained College Cricket Ground with turf

wicket at Vasant Nagar, (16622.4 sq mt.) is

available for players and to organise various

tournament. Many players of our ground

participated in VCA U/19, U/23 & Ranji

Trophy.

Gymnastics Coaching Center

g. Gymnastics – We train students and other members of the society throughout the year in

Shivaji Gymnastics Club under the coaching of Mr. Sanket Winchurkar & Mr. Mayuresh

Shrishikar - National players. Regularly average 50 gymnasts get the training. Three gymnast

from our coaching center participated in School State Tournament held at Amravati, 4 players

participated in State Championship held at Thane under various age groups.

h. Other outdoor sports Facilities: Basketball Court, Football ground with Flood Light and

Volleyball, Korfball, Netball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho grounds are well maintened for regular

practice.

We provide various equipment’s, Uniforms, Shoes, concession for outstation tournament,

refreshment and daily allowances during tournaments. College bears the cost of university

blazer for player who get selected for the first time in any game in the University team.

Participation in Various Sports Competitions : College teams participated in

University and other intercollegiate tournaments:

a) Nagpur University Inter-collegiate tournament: Total 26 Men & 9 Women College teams

participated (total 198 boys & girls students) in University tournament i.e. Athletics, Cross-

Country, Netball, Softball, Baseball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Judo, Korfball (Men and Women)

Basketball, Badminton, Ball-Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Chess, Table Tennis, Volleyball,

Taykando, Power-Lifting, Yogasana, Sepaktakraw and Swimming in Men section.

b) Other Tournament: Our college teams participated in Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida

Mahotsava 2018 - Kabaddi, Volleyball, Korfball (Men & Women), Basketball, Football,

Badminton, Chess, and Cricket (Men). Krick-Mania Cricket-2018, BACL Cricket Trophy, Late

Govindrao Wanjari Smruti Krida Mahotsava etc.

Achievements: We put efforts to train our players at least one month before the

respective games & sports so that they may be well trained to win a name & fame for themselves

as well as for college. This is our pride privilege that Yogasana - Men team emerged as champion

in RTM Nagpur University Tournament. We won the taekwondo -Men & Cricket-Men University

championship, Red-bull Campus Cricket & Volleyball DSO boys, Handball DSO - girls

championship, Runners up in University Softball-Men & Korfball Men-women, Cricket Krik-

mania, etc.

Interschool Gymnastics Competition on

August 12-13, 2018 which was inaugurated

by Dr. C. D. Chandekar, in the presence of,

Dr. Devendra Wankhade, Mrs. Shirshikar

and Dr P.S.Changole presided over the

with and the consent by Nagpur District

Gymnastics Association.

h. Annual Sports Meet: On the 121th

Birth

Anniversary of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh,

the founder of Shri. Shivaji Education

Society, Amravati, our department

organized the Inter-class Cricket, Yogasana

and Athletics (100 mtr Running, Long-

Jump & Shot-put) competitions on

December 24 & 25, 2018. Prize distribution

took place on December 27, 2018 at the

hands of Dr. Sharad Nimbalkar who was

chief guest on this occasion.

Best Practices of department:

a) Summer Coaching Camp: from last 15 year we organize the summer coaching camp for

different games for the school & college students to create awareness of sports among them,

developing the skill & advancing the knowledge of games. This year the coaching camp was

held between April 15 to June 15, 2019, it was inaugurated by Dr. Vijay Datarkar –

Chairman, BoS Physical Education, Dr. P.S. Changole, Off. Principal was preside over the

function. Dr. Devendra Wankhade gave the introductory remark. Dr. Subhash Dadhe

conducted the programme & Dr Vandana Ingale proposed a vote of thanks. The expert

coaches gave the advance coaching to the students. We invited reputed coaches of respective

games to train our students. Football coaching was given under Dr. Ramesh Mandal, Ajay

Kanojiya, Softball – Mr.Chetan Mahadik, Mr.Sudhanshu Shriwas & , Basketball - Mr. Jayant

Jichkar & Mr..Mangesh Pandharipande, Gymnastics – Mr. Mayuresh Shirshikar & Mr.

Sanket Vinchurkar, Table Tenni – Mr. Deepak Kanetkar, Badminton – Mr. Nikhil Rokhde,

Mr.Kunal Dasalwar & Mr. Raghavendra Chati, Chess – Mr.Umesh Panbude, Yoga & Weight

Loss - Dr. Subhash Dadhe, Rugby – Mrs. Shilpa Tiwari, Sunil Chaoudhary. More than 200

students from various Schools & Colleges participated & got benefitted from this camp.

ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED / ORGANISED:

d) International Yoga Day: As per HRD ministry, Govt. of

India’s guidelines, our

department organised

International Yoga day on

21 June 2018. All teaching

and non teaching staff &

students performed in the

morning, Suryanamskar, Yogasana & Pranayama on this

occasion. National players Rahul Darapure demonastrated the Asanas. Dr. P.S.Changole –

Off. Principal gave best wishes for performing Yogasana on the International Yoga Day. Dr.

Devendra Wankhade instructed the importance of the Yogabhyas.

e) Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test: As per University Ordinance every year

our Department conducts the Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test for the college

Students (under graduate). The medical examination was held on February 11to 21, 2019,

under medical officer Dr. Avinash Gawande, Dr. Anil Chiwhane.

f) Physical efficiency test took place during February 11 to 21, 2019. For these activities

externals were Dr. R. Y. Deshmukh & Dr.Lalita Puniya. This year the same activity took

place. The statistical reports of this test were submitted to the R.T.M. Nagpur University,

Nagpur.

FELICITATION: On the Occasion of College teacher felicitation programme all the prize

winners in the sport activities for the session 2018-19, who represented the Inter University,

National, State, Competitions & secured positions in University Tournament were felicitated and

presented with the track-suits, mementoes & certificates on prize Distribution ceremony held on

May, 2019. On this occasion Prin. Dr. P. S. Changole presided over the function.
