insight

Although Sunreef Yachts began with modest sized sailing cats, its story these days is big, bigger, biggest. Nudged by CEO Francis Lapp, chief concept designer Robert Błażejak and his team are stretching the envelope with a 165-foot sailing cat and 210-foot power trimaran on the drawing board.

The ultramodern 210-foot trimaran yacht, which was designed for a potential client, offers

more than 10,300 square feet of living space sheltered within its 72-foot beam. The plan puts the engine room, galley, crew, mess and laundry in the lower center hull. On deck level, a master suite of staggering proportions is forward with access to its own deck on the bow atop the tender garage. Six cabins radiate out from the centerline main salon—three on each side—with their beds facing fold-out balconies

and full-height opening windows. The state-rooms are literally atop the wings connecting the center hull to the outriggers. The top deck features a large bridge, ship’s office and captain’s cabin, formal dining under a sliding roof and an aft deck lounge.

Four MTU 12V 2000 M84 engines are the power plant considered for this advanced yacht, to be built in advanced composite or aluminum

Big MULTihULL BLOOMand anticipated to reach a 30-knot top speed.

For sailors, the 165 Ultimate raises the bar with more than 6,000 square feet of living space, including a 600-square-foot main deck master suite with its own gym. The remainder of the main deck area can be configured with a ViP cabin and a study or two ViPs plus an open plan salon with a dining area and bar. Then there is the sail area: the upwind kit measures more than 13,000 square feet, with the

gennaker adding another 11,840 for reaching and running. This explains Sunreef’s prediction for a top speed of 25 knots. All of the crew and service areas are located in the port hull giving guests real privacy. The open cockpit spans the full 52-foot beam, which gives it room for several uses, and twin staircases rise to the flying bridge where there is more room for dining, sunning or enjoying the sailing. www.sunreef-yachts.com; (954) 999-5121 or +48 58 769 77 77.
