TO: Prospective Buyers and Guests,
Welcome to sixteenth Southeast Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Sale for Spring Calving.
The December sale offers home-raised females as well as allowing sale of commercial heifers, owned a
minimum of 60 days prior to breeding.
The December 2013 sale sold 184 heifers bringing an average of $2,055. Females bred to AI brought, on
average, an additional $173 when compared to those females bred by natural service. Heifers qualifying for Tier
II, A.I. bred averaged $2,336. The Spring 2014 sale sold136 heifers averaging $2,644 with A.I. adding $192 in
value compared to heifers bred by natural service. Tier II, A.I. bred heifers averaged $2,772.
The 171 heifers entered in this sale have been sorted and selected from over 600 heifers that entered the
program earlier this year. Many of those not consigned to the sale have been retained to enter the consigner’s
herd or sold off-farm due to the thriving cattle market. What this sale can offer are quality replacement heifers
based on management, reproduction, and genetics. Heifers are guaranteed bred for 30 days and many originate
from herds with generations of stacked pedigrees.
There are 158 black or BWF and 13 RWF heifers in the sale. There are 19 Registered Angus and 1
Percentage Simmental. This group of heifers are 55% A.I. bred, 70% fetal sexed, and 15% qualify for Tier II.
These heifers will be sold in uniform lots according to breed, color, size, calving date and fetal sex.
Three regions of the state are being represented in the sale with many top herds and long-time Show-
Me-Select participants consigning heifers to the sale. Consigners are listed in alphabetical order – not by sale
order. Sale order will be available the day of the sale. The catalog includes footnotes from the consigners and
also EPD accuracy on available sires. Remember, an accuracy of close to 1.0 indicates higher reliability in data
selection.
Thank you for your participation in the sale, or simply your interest in the studying the catalog. If you
have questions feel free to contact us at 573/243-3581, visit our website: semobeef.com, or contact the
consigner at the number listed.
Sincerely,
Erin Larimore Roger Eakins

General Information
Auctioneer – Ken Carney
Sale Agent – Fruitland Livestock Auction, Inc.
The sale order was determined by consignors drawing for a position in the rotation. Each consignor
selected those heifers to sell in each rotation. Heifers will be sold in uniform lots sorted according to breed type,
size and those selling together are expected to calve in a 45 day period. Heifers become the property of the
purchaser immediately after the sale. Each animal will be at the purchaser’s risk as soon as sold. The seller will aid
in the loading of the cattle on instructions from the buyer, but at the buyer’s risk. No cattle will be loaded until
the conclusion of the sale. All fees will be collected by the Fruitland Livestock Auction, Inc. and are to be settled
before loading.
GUARANTEE
All heifers are guaranteed bred and are guaranteed to remain pregnant for 30 days after the sale. Due
dates are approximate. Females can range two weeks or more around due date even if they were AI bred. Heifers
were pasture exposed to bulls after A.I.. Rectal Palpation for pregnancy is subjective and not exact because all
cows vary in fetal development. A.I. pregnancies are not guaranteed but highly probable. Gestation length is based
on average of 283 and can come very early or very late. Any heifer found open (by an accredited veterinarian) will
be returned to the consignor and the money will be refunded by the consignor. Heifers are guaranteed against
genetic defects on first calf only if inspected and documented by a veterinarian. All guarantees are made by the
consignor of the cattle, not the sale committee or the SEMO Cattlemen’s Association.
TAGS All heifers in the sale are identified by a special tag that carries the "Show-Me-Select" trademark and
name. This tag indicates that the heifers have met all of the requirements of the Missouri "Show-Me-Select"
program.
CONTRIBUTORS
The sale committee and consignors wish to thank all those who have contributed to the success of this program.
Your faith in our ability to make this program work is appreciated.

There are ten Angus heifers and 1 Hereford cross heifer. The Angus are sired by good Angus
bulls. Two are Tier II sired by Bextor and President. The Hereford is sired by a good
Hereford sire.
The AI heifers are bred to Hoover Dam, he is a moderate framed and powerful sire who excels
for docility, being thick, attractive and correct with a highly sought after combination of
calving ease and muscle. He ranks in the top 10% of the breed for heifer pregnancy EPD’s.
The natural service sire is a bull I bought at the Farmington Bull Sale from Birk’s Beef Cattle
with good EPD’s.
All heifers that are called AI bred were ultrasound pregnancy checked safe to the AI date, but

These are all deep bodied and sound made heifers with proven genetics. We raise
heifers and bulls with the real environment in mind, as we feed a ration of mostly
hay and grass. These heifers all have great dispositions and come from very
productive females. Our clean up bull is a long bodied and sound made bull that
adds a lot of growth and pounds to his calf crop.
