8th Grade Career Speaker Series ISO: Career Guest Speakers!

Pacific Crest Middle School would like to invite you to be a guest presenter as part of our 8th Grade Career Speaker Series on April 21st, from 8:00-10:00.

Inspire the youth of our community by sharing your career journey, a typical workday, education requirements, other opportunities in your field and more. This is an opportunity for students to speak with someone whose career choice interests them and to explore areas they may not have considered before.

You will speak to four different groups of students for 25 minutes each (one short presentation, four times). Your audience will be 8th grade students (13/14 year olds).

We appreciate your willingness to give back to the youth of our community!

Pacific Crest Middle School March 6, 2017

Help Ben reach his goal of providing clean water for

50 people in Ghana!Throughout the last week, Ben has been selling bracelets to

raise funds for Safe Water Network, an organization that brings safe water to Ghana. Adopted from a small village in Ghana, Ben tells his story of unsafe water conditions and the

tragedy of children and families dying because of this. He is a strong advocate for making change happen and

believes it can start with us!

$30 provides one person with a full year of clean water supply. Ben has already raised $1100, but is just short of his goal of $1500.

Donations will be accepted in the Main Office through Friday, March 17.

BLS Scoliosis Screening

On April 19th Bend- LaPine School Nurses will be doing a scoliosis screening on 6th grade girls and all 8th graders.

Scoliosis is a gradual curvature of the spine that may

occur while teens are going through puberty. An orthopedic doctor will come to Pacific Crest for a follow-

up screening at the end of May. You will be notified if your student is scheduled for this re-screening.

E is for Egypt: Save the Children Fundraiser6th Grade Communities Publish a Book!

In this project, students of Ms. Molly, Ms. Durfee, and Ms. Shein’s communities studied Ancient Egypt and explored how their society

has advanced today. Students selected one topic (A-Z) on which to focus their research. They became an expert on their topic and

wrote, illustrated, edited and published a page in our class book, "E is for Egypt". All content in the book was created and edited by students! Come celebrate the spectacular work they did

by joining us at our book launch. Food, beverages, learning and surprises are all

guaranteed!

The proceeds from this book will benefit Savethechildren.org that “works with young

boys and adolescents in the Choices program in rural Egypt to improve their views on girls

and girls’ role in Egyptian society.”

Pacific Crest Middle School March 6, 2017

WEEKLY WRAP-UPOur winning Battle of the Books team, A-Paco-Lypse, is going to regionals this Saturday in Sisters! Come support your Golden Eagles from 8-1pm at Sisters Middle School.

Artists from Ms. Reynolds' Semester 1 and 2 classes were invited to join their teacher in an upcoming art show at

Thump Coffee. Students learned about scientific illustration and created some beautiful images that will be

on display alongside original artwork by Ms. Reynolds.

On Saturday, March 4th, Charli S. earned a berth at The Oregon State MS Wrestling Championship to be held on March 11th in Woodburn. In a 14-man bracket Charli ends up No. 2 behind Noel Navarro of Culver. In a dramatic 7-0 comeback, she defeated Silas Jones of High Desert MS in the semifinals, pinning him at 2:38. Earlier on Jan. 23rd Charli became the first ever female to be crowned Bend City Champion.
