For my third year design thesis, I chose to go back to my London origins.

Elephant & Castle, also known as “The Elephant”, resides in the heart of London as a major road junction within the Borough of Southwark. It has also leaped into the forefront of the architecture scene, as the process of gentrification is redifining what it once was. But, is this drastic change benficial to all?

I want to explore alterenative solutions, and deconstruct the gentrification process that has instilled a sense of instability within my society, providing an architectural language which will withstand the test of time.

I’ve incorporated: food, art, business, family and a source of ecological equilibrium. I really wanted to focus on providing residents the necessary building blocks to fabricate their own environment.
